We visited Riddarholmen Church first thing on a very rainy morning, so that may have colored my impression. But I was really looking forward to visiting this church after walking past it several times and admiring the outside. But the inside is not so much...More

Amazingly beautiful and historic church. Oldest preserved building in Stockholm. Built in 1290, one of the only surviving medieval monastery churches. Well worth the few $$ admission. In my opinion, second only to Roskilde Cathedral in Denmark. Full of tombs, suites of armor, coat of...More

More than a typical church tour this place is history laid out before you with the tombs of the last monarchies. Convenient to the old town. A must do stop.

A very interesting place, it is the only preserved medieval monastery church in Stockholm. Almost all kings of Sweden (except of Queen Christina) are burried here since 1632. It is opened to public in summer and autumn and there are concerts during the whole year.

Guided tours included with the Royal Palace tickets are awesome. Top quality. Highly recommended. The church is well preserved and nice. The guide is just brilliant.

This was our first sight off the subway by Gamla Stan. The kids enjoyed visiting all the tombs for the royals and the magestic art and displays. Beautiful church!

It is one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm. After the Protestant Reformation, the monastery was closed and the building transformed into a Protestant church.

This building hasn't been a church since about 200 years, but actually turned into a royal tomb. This old church houses lots of tombs of Swedish Royalty. From the first royal Swedish house, until the current royal Swedish house. Only worth a visit if you...More

Interesting church from outside with a beautiful spire and interesting inside, with good information sheets provided. There are also concerts in the building that are free of charge if you have the entrance ticket to the church.

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home
to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central
island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small
island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous
Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit
touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting:
take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and
through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest)

I think they may only be open during the summer season. Best to check their website for hours for accuracy.
