About
Prince Eugen's Waldemarsudde, originally the home of Prince Eugen, is now among the most-visited art museums in Sweden. In the Mansion the Prince's Private Apartments remain mostly unchanged, while the two upper floors and the Gallery building are used for temporary exhibitions or for exhibiting works by the Prince or from his collections. The estate is set in a beautiful parkland, featuring centuries-old oak trees. Its situation by the inlet to Stockholm harbour presents the visitor with stunning views of the water. Welcome to Sweden's most beautiful art museum!

Address
Neighbourhood: Djurgården & Djurgårdsbrunn
The island of Djurgården and its northern mainland extension, Djurgårdsbrunn, impress with a mix of nature and an abundance of museums, while being located in walking distance to Stockholm’s city center. Djurgården not only invites visitors to take endless walks through a beautiful park landscape without having to leave the city, but also offers an incredible range of entertainment facilities, such as an open air museum which specializes in the Swedish way of life pre-industrialization, the renowned Vasa Museum with its legendary sailing ship, and Sweden’s most famous amusement park Gröna Lund, which is more than a 100 years old.

The good: the building is gorgeous and offers an amazing view of Stockholm; the restaurant has fantastic food; and the art is fantastic.

The bad: crowded beyond belief. We visited in a very quiet week, with unseasonably cold outdoor temperatures (1C in late April), yet when we arrived there was not a single locker free in the cloakroom (which is mandatory for bags larger than a purse). The lunch room required a lot of jostling to get a table and the special exhibit was essentially unviewable due to the mobs.

I have to recommend it for the reasons listed under “good” but must give fair warning to the “bad” — hard for me to imagine what it’s like on a lovely spring day!

Since 1948, Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde has been an art museum that displays Eugen's own art, his art collection and several temporary exhibitions every year. After Prince Eugen's death, he bequeathed the property and the art collection to the Swedish people. It still feels like a visit to a bourgeois home filled with beautiful works of art, not forgetting beautiful flower arrangements

The house gives a good impression of the wealth of the former prince and what he did for art.
It s a nice collection, and also the garden with all the flowers and the statues is worth a visit. I guess spring is the perfect time to visit.

Filled with personal artwork and photos of the houses former owner it was more like stepping into someones well appointed home than a musuem, then again until it was turned into a musuem it WAS the princes home. The displays were interesting with the top floor housing contemporary sculptures, and the gallery exhbit devoted to the works of an artist colony from the 20th century.
the weather wasnt the best when i went so i didnt view the grounds but i could see how lovely it would be to do on a nicer day

Lovely garden, beautiful sculptures, wonderful walk on a sunny day, but wouldn’t recommend the museum other than for the space and the cafe

An interesting place to drop by. A beautiful garden in the front has an amazing urn in porphyry as a centre piece which weighed 10 tons and was installed in 1825
