Neighbourhood: Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

We visited the Royal Palace and took in the extra Daisy exhibition.

The Palace is very large, and there is plenty to see - all very interesting if that's your thing.

The Daisy exhibition was of more interest to us as it told a much more personal story - which ultimately was very sad. What more could she have achieved (sorry, spoiler alert coming) if she hadn't died so young?

I went in to the ticket booth and bought a book ‘Royals Palace’ and inquired woman whether they provide senior discount price for admission. She said senior is adult they don’t have discount for the seniors. I told her I only have one day left and could not afford to spend two hours there.

Thereby she instructed me to leave the building right away. Cannot believe that Royals Palace in Stockholm all they want is your money $$$$$. If you don’t want to donate the money to them they dare to yell at you and kick you out of the palace.

I don’t recommend this place at all. If you want to go to all the museums they advertise to the tourists you have to save at least a thousand dollars in order to get Swedish rich.

Beautiful palace and especially the visit of the royal rooms, the place where other kings/queen have slept and still can stay when going on official visit.

The palace is very ornate in places and almost dour in others. A royal palace is always worth a visit, but this one is not over special except by the fact it is actually in use and one walks through rooms which might have held a banquet just the previous evening.

a bit boring, only small part made an impression. I went there only to see royal jewelry, crown, etc, but it was not available for public during covid, very disappointing. 2h max to see all. If you have limited time, skip it and spend more time in surrounding old town.

I bought a ticket for the Bernadotte apartments only which was very interesting. The castle is crammed with stuff (furniture, porcelain, paintings) and it takes forever if one wants to take pictures of everything.

I strongly recommend you to eat a large breakfast or lunch before entering since it takes about 2 hrs for a quicker "review". Probably takes 3 hrs if you take it slower.

There's a small museum shop between the floors and a bigger shop in one of the curved houses outside the castle.

There were not a whole lot of people when I was there. I chose to book my ticket for the 10 am slot.

A royal tour is mandatory in Sweden. The castle is maybe not the most beautiful in the world but it has a very nice and interesting architecture. Take some time and read about the castle history. In Sweden 🇸🇪 we love ❤️ our royal 👑 family ⭐️

Brilliant visiting here. It took me so much longer than I thought because there is just so much to see. Highly recommend.

Interesting to go inside the Royal Palace and visit the rooms, impressive grand hall, throne room. The information provided in each room is not particularly interesting but is worth a visit. Unfortunately there was no changing of the guard ceremony probably because of Covid times.
