Really interesting day out. Lots to see and good value. Interest for all age groups. Information in English and Swedish.

The guide for English speakers was great. She really knew her history and background to the royal family - and made the list very worthwhile, despite the summer crowds.

The Royal apts open before some of the other areas so get there when it opens (part of Stockholm pass) as the tour buses seem to wait for everything to open and hour later. We literally had the place to ourselves and it has some...More

The royal palace was a great way to spend some time. Touring is a bit disjointed because there are 4 or so specific things on the ticket, and they are located in different places. For example, we visited the underground, food storage and wood cutting...More

During changing of the guards it is extremely crowded. There is a band preceding the guards & everyone starts following & then is becomes extremely crowded. You can lose your group members if your not careful.

The changing of the guard happens at 12 om everyday. You will want to get there by 11:40 to get a good spot. It lasts about 35 minutes and is worth the visit. After you can and tour the palace.

This palace may not be one of Europe's biggest ones, but I would definitely recommend it for a visit as it actually has some very interesting elements. I would also suggest to take a guided tour both into the palace and the Tre Kronor museum...More

If you are on time you can watch the guards changing. You can take photos with guards but you have to stay 5 metres away from them.

Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home
to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central
island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small
island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous
Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit
touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting:
take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and
through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest)

Yes, there is a charge. I went as part of a group - and so the price I paid would not necessarily be the same as the going rate. I think you should budget to spend at least USD30 per person for entry to both these places.
