I have seen a fair share of Natural History Museums and this was no different from others. Don't get me wrong, building was fabulous and exhibition was versatile. There was a lot for the kids, very educational. But I was more into the documentary in Cosmonova theatre. Superpower dogs was a good movie.

We were hugely impressed by the collection of dinosaur fossils at this wonderful natural history museum. Wooly mammoths, massive aquatic dinosaurs, whales, and other prehistoric creatures were on display in this child-friendly museum. The dinosaur fossil collection is on par with the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, and this is a great place to visit when in Stockholm.

Unfortunately, when we visited Stockholm, in May 2024, the Naturhistoriska riksmuseet (National Museum of Natural History) was still closed for maintenance work lasting from August 2023 to 4 June 2024. So, we could only view the impressive early 19th century complex designed by architect Axel Anderberg in a mix of Baroque and Jugendstil styles from the outside. We will have to return to this museum the next time we visit Stockholm.

The museum is nice and there is a lot to see. However it was very noisy and a lot of kids running around like crazy, felt more like a kindergarten. If you like that this place is perfect. If you don't, skip it. Unfortunate that it's only for families with small kids.

Poor common thread and very little information about the exhibitions. A lot of kids running everywhere. Not recommended if you want to go to a museum because it is interesting and you want to learn. More like a playground for children than a museum.The whole experience is created for children.

Wonderful place outside Stockholm reachable by bus and to be combined with a visit to the nearby Bergianska tradgarden. Very well-kept and interesting museum also for students, only in English and Swedish. For those who want in the basement there is a restaurant and a picnic area with sinks for dishes.

Lots to look at. We were there all day. Quite a lot of people and noise level after that but still ok. Lots to read and look at.
What brought the rating down was that some things were broken, when you had to click on a screen, e.g.
The exhibition about the body was exciting but quickly became crowded and so messy. Went back at the end of the day and then we were almost alone. Good food. Cosmonova was exciting and nice to sit down for a while.

As the title says, I didn't see everything, but what I saw was great. If you are choosing whether to go to the exhibition, the cosmonova iMax film... I say get the combo bundle good price for the experience. Everything was great. From the small bones of a dinosaur to a literally real life-size copy of big animals to real life-size copies of dinosaurs to a perfect iMAX film. Me and my family got the "Asteroid Hunters" iMAX film, and it was really good with an explanation of what they do to research about potentially dangerous asteroids, aka PGA's, which i now know how they are called because of the film, Also it shows a simulation of what the solving of a potentially dangerous asteroid would look like. Basically, the entire museum was very good.

Really good displays and highly interactive... We had trouble persuading our five year old to move onto the next activity! We particularly liked the Swedish nature area. A great day out and the real bonus is that this museum is free!

Great experience and nice house. It was
a lot to see so it takes around 5 hours and see everything.
Very educational and fun for children. Long queue to
restaurant but good food. Long line to the bathroom.
