Kronborg Castle towers above a very narrow promontory between the coasts of Denmark and Sweden. The renaissance castle stands majestically with its spires, towers, columns, sandstone and copper roofs. Kronborg Castle is a magnificent renaissance castle and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. Kronborg Castle is marking this occasion by celebrating Shakespeare's immortal play Hamlet with a cocktail of theatrical adventure, drama and festivities in the magnificent halls of the castle.

The Kronborg is a bit out if Copenhagen, but it's easy enough to get a train, which are regular, comfortable, and cheap. The castle itself is very impressive - a blend of artillery star fort, aristocratic grandiose, and mediaeval might. And it stands imposingly right on the coast of the sea. For these reasons alone it is well worth a... More

Beautiful castle, in which you virtually breathe the history of Denmark. The interior is spacous and in extremely good condition. The catacombs are my personal tip! The caslte is very easy to reach by train. With the Copenhagen card both the trip and the entrance are free!

This Castle has a story for HAMLET. Its location is pretty amazing with a breathe taking view. Went from Copenhagen took a train all the way to Helsingor and from there its 15 mins walk. The Palace presents many things and many history and culture. You need not less than 2 hours and connect with this place and feel the... More

A visit to this castle is well worth the trip out of the city! I thoroughly enjoyed wandering the various rooms and publicly available areas of this castle. There is lots of information through out the castle to help you understand the history. It is in both Danish and English. Make sure you go underground to visit the statue of... More

What a wonderful place! This castle is quite charming-very intimate yet grand at the same time and oozing with interesting rooms, portraits, tapestries and objets d'art. Staff are friendly and unobtrusive and one could easily spend all day here and still not see everything. This is a terrific place to visit.

A must visit when in Denmark ! Shakespeare's Hamlet and much more thrilling history is connected to this beautiful ancient castle. Located in Elsinore (45min drive from Copenhagen town hall) and very close to Sweden/Helsingborg (20min by ferry)!

A 'must do' for anyone visiting the area. Very well presented and informative, without too much to read and take in. Good use of models and hologram etc. There were also areas aimed at children, so,good for family day out. We did the 30 minute tour of the casements - included in the price, which was very interesting, We are... More

We came on a blustery afternoon to take the 1pm free walking tour. It was only 25 minute long and only went through the soldiers' quarters. I had hoped it would be more about the whole castle but it was still informative. We then toured the whole castle by ourselves. Lots of signs in English to explain what we were... More

We visited Kronborg our first day in Denmark and it was well worth the trip north. Easy access from central station in Copenhagen. Directions were simple from the station to the castle. Entrance fee is free with the Copenhagen card. There are guided tours in English and Danish but look up the schedule ahead of time. All of the castle... More
