Children's author Hans Christian Andersen, known as H.C. in Denmark, has been immortalized next to Copenhagen's City Hall. He's holding a book and cane and has a well-worn lap from all the children (of all ages) who have sat on his knees.

The statue is right out in the open. There was construction going on while we were there, so this was a little difficult to get to.

For someone synonymous with Copenhagen, we were disappointed with this statue of HC Anderson. Mind you, they were doing a lot of roadworks so it wasn’t at its best but still it’s not in a prominent place. Go to Nyhavn and see where he lived...More

This very popular statue is just a short stroll across a public plaza from the Copenhagen hotel in which we were staying. Consequently, we walked past it several times. On each occasion it was surrounded by tourists having their photographs next to, or in front...More

This statue of Hans Christian Anderson is pretty impressive, and right by one of the entrances to Tivoli Gardens. I wouldn't make a special visit to see it though.

This was off the main square of City Hall and a fun statue of HC Anderson to see. A lot to do and entertainment on the City Hall Square - Don't forget to try the hot dogs!

just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours,
or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15
minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the
