Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A large crowd gathers quickly. The entire ceremony takes at least 30 minutes, probably more. When you come down the street from the Marble Church, the guards gather to the far right, face each other and then stand there for half an hour.

We enjoyed walking with the Danish Royal Guard from Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Palace during their
changing of the guard ceremony. Enjoy the many pics highlighting another memorable day on our vacation. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I have seen changing of the gurus all over including Greece and Latvia. I stood in pouring rain to witness this but found it lack luster during the long pauses. I think maybe on a less rainy day it is better, not sure, but it was okay

We were not impressed by the changing of the guards. We watched the same in Prague and it was quicker and more enjoyable. This starts far away and you can follow them to the palace. But once at the palace it seems to take forever and we got actually bored watching it.

Thought it was pretty cool how open the space was to the public seeing as how it belongs to the Denmark Royal family. There were a few guards roving back and forth on the grounds which was cool to see. This area offers lots of space to take pictures.

Visited here as part of our 16 day tour of Denmark with family and friends. I have seen this numerous times but our friends had not. After speaking with policeman, we settled ourselves into a perfect viewing spot. Then moved after awhile to see the conclusion.

First, a warning; depending if the king or queen is in residence, the size of the guard changes. For instance, if the royalty are there, you will end up with the band and the Life Guard. Other times, just the flute & drums and Life Guard are there. There are days only the Life Guard is present. Which is why I think you see people that are not happy. They have a schedule posted at the barracks, which is where I would recommend you start. At 1130 am, they march out of the barracks and arrive at noon for the changing. Then at the conclusion, (depending on the performance) they march back. You can get unbelievably close to the guard and I took a lot of video and pictures on each day I attended,(in three days there were three different performances because the royalty was in and the next two days, they were gone).

Really beautiful square. The change of guard brings it to life like gears in a clock. Don’t be rude or get in the way of the soldiers.

When visiting Amalienborg Castle try to time your visit to coincide with the mid-day changing of her Majesty's guard. It's a bit of pomp and circumstance and certainly worth the time. One of the nice things about this event is that visitors are up close to the guards.

Do you suggest to book a tour to see changing of the guards?
Where should we stay to have perfect look ?

No tour is required. The changing of the guards is basically a procession through the streets between Rosenborg and Amalienborg.

Di che colore è la divisa della guardia: giubba blu con pantaloni neri oppure giubba rossa con pantaloni blu? La divisa cambia a seconda della stagione, delle occasioni o cos'altro?
