Top ways to experience Copenhagen Central Station and nearby attractions
The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Inner Vesterbro
This neighbourhood is home to Tivoli Gardens, a world famous amusement park and beautiful garden always worth a visit. Just west of Tivoli, you’ll find Copenhagen Central Station, from where you can reach just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours, or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15 minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the middle of “old” Vesterbro, where several cultures and hundreds of languages are spoken in an area not more than one square mile. This neighbourhood is considered one of the most trendy places to live in and to visit in Copenhagen. For a real treat, visit Kødbyen ("meat town"), home to several restaurants, cafés and nightclubs, all within a short walk of each other.

Copenhagen Central station is a major station in the heart of the city. There are trains to destinations across the nation and there are also regular trains to other countries. For example there are two trains an hour to Malmo in Sweden and also further afield. There are also trains running to Hamburg every two hours.
There are trains running about every 15 minutes to the airport which is on the outskirts of the city and it does not take long to get there.
There are also the local Dot trains which run to areas close by and there is the metro which runs beneath the city.
Within the station you can access wifi and this will help with any information you need. Alternatively there is a DSB travel centre which is open until 8pm which will provide you with any information you need.
The architecture of the station is worth taking in during your visit and I was very impressed with the grandeur of the station. It has been well built and maintained.
There are also places to get things to eat like a 7 Eleven and also places to get pastries, thai curry, fast food and sandwiches.
There are toilets available to use however you have to pay for the privilege so you may find it more convenient to use a toilet on the train. There are escalators and lifts to get you from the concourse onto the platforms so this is useful for those who cannot use stairs
All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful and able to assist an english speaking tourist with no clue on how to speak Danish.

Typical "old European" train station, that requires some experience and assistance in getting around....the staff for the train service is excellent, and the ticket prices are reasonable. The person who helped me purchase the correct ticket from the Copenhagen airport to the Central station I later encountered working at this station. In my opinion, the building is showing signs of deterioration (as expected over the years of operation), and the repair work seems to be slow in occurring.

Clean, efficient and organised station. Booked tickets to visit Malmo but there were major delays. We decided to get a refund which was quick and easy. Christian Anderson on the refund desk was very helpful and suggested that we bought a family ticket to save money. We had a great time in Copenhagen.

Coming from a country that doesnt have a metro/underground service, the metro can seem a bit confusing.
However, the staff in the station are brilliant and happy to help. There is a help desk where they tell you everything you need to know.
You have the option of buying tickets for your single trip, 24 hours or 48 hours, which is helpful.
The metro service is brilliant with metros coming very frequently.
The train service is also brilliant and your tickets do for both the train and the metro.
In Copenhagen central station, there is many places to eat or grab a coffee.
A really well laid out service , Brilliant staff, plenty of trains and metros running.

Likewise many European cities, CPH railway station is located in the very center in a huge nice building. It is the main transport hub not only for CPH, but for whole Denmark. All international trains depart and arrive here, and it is the central hub for city metro lines beneath it, as well bus services outside of it by Tivoli gardens.

A constantly clean and tidy station, we passed though a few times and did not see any mess.
We had a free day in Copenhagen and decided to take an adventure over to Malmo, Sweden - on the train.
This was so easy and cheap !
The staff were very good at the ticket kiosk and advised which platform we needed to be on. the journey only took 40 minutes and we were in another country !

This is a big and well run station. It has a very efficient train system also. The few times I used it I found the workers quite helpful and well organized; both inside and outside the station is quite architecturally beautiful.

The central train station is centrally located (across from the Tivoli Gardens) and offers a range of shopping options. We didn't see a central information desk (despite looking) and had a bit of trouble finding out which track our train left from. We could not find a bathroom that didn't charge for use.

We experienced this large train station when we went to Copenhagen for the day and all in all it was a positive experience. Lots of shops, cafes etc etc and it is the centre for connections for buses too. Its a lovely area to sit and people watch too although more seating would be a plus. The only slight negative was that the notice boards could have been easier to understand and it is not just the language barriers.

Huge train station.. Not many staff on hand to help on platforms or in the station. There is a dedicated area for enquiries, which you have to get a ticket number and queue. There are a few cafes/shops, as well as a Tourist information Centre. Toilets can be used for 5 dkk.

Hello! To take a S tog train from Central Station to Hillerod should we report to Tracks 9, 10 , 11 and 12? Will the train line be called " The A Line "? Does the northbound train to Hillerod stop there? Meaning that is the end of the line so I couldn't possibly miss my Hillerod stop? Thanks for any upcoming responses. Btw...we will use "City Pass Large"

Is it easy to travel with suitcases on trains between Copenhagen and Gothenberg, and Gothenberg and Oslo?
Written 15 February 2020
Yes. The trains have plenty of room for your luggage, and the Øresund trains Copenhagen-Gothenburg even has a low floor carriage for easy entry/exit. Alternatively, the DFDS overnight ferry Copenhagen-Oslo is nice and can be recommended.

We want to take a high speed train to Stockholm from Copenhagen Central Station. Is there an office where you can buy them? What does SJ+1 mean? Does it take 5 hrs and 40 min? Is there a taxi service or subway to Stockholm? Is the station open? Thank you

Hi...our airBnb accommodation is on Lille Istedgade. Are the many entrance/exits from the Central Station? Which exit do we take to go to Istedgade?
Written 1 August 2019
There are 2 exits. The main one and a side one. The main one is to the right when you get up to the station from the platform.
To get to Lille Istedgade, when you exit the station, turn left, walk about 150 metres up to a crossroads, turn left on Vesterbrogade, walk along there for about 250 metres and turn left again onto Helgolandsgade, walk down there for 150 metres until the first junction you come to and turn right, onto Istedgade, walk along there for 150 metres and Lille Istedgade is the 2nd turning on your left.
Hope that helps.

Hi i plan to travel from copenhagen airport to copenhagen central train station by train with one small backpack and a big luggage bag measuring 24in. My arms not strong.
My queries are as follows:
1. Are there lifts in the airport to the train platform. I watched a youtube video and it showed a travellator or moving sidewalk.
2. Is there only 1 train from the airport to the centrain train station?? Which direction should i take ??
3. Are the steps to the train carriage low?? I saw the youtube video showing one train carriage has a ramp n ppl lugged their big bags down . Is there a train carriage with an auto ramp. How do i identify tis train carriage ??
4. Are there lifts in the train platform in the central train station to the ground floor ??
5. I plan to stay in copenhagen star hotel near the central train station. Which exit should i be taking?? I understand there r 2 exits.
Appreciate your assistance and feedback.

We were there July 2018. The train from the airport is the best ever. You pick up your baggage and the train is right there. I believe you go down one level to get the commuter train to the Main Train Station. They run about every 15 min. or so for a 20 min. ride. There are hotels right outside the main station. I do not know about lifts/elevators but people there are very friendly and glad to help also helping with purchasing tickets from the machine. Take a look at the YouTube videos about the airport and train travel. It's very easy, hope it helps.

Is there a train that will take you to the cruise port where Royal Caribbean ships dock in June?
Written 28 November 2018
First, you should locate where your ship docks (most likely Oceankaj). Then you should check how to get there on the Journey Planner :)

Do I have to leave the station to get a good meal with wine or beer? Last time I was at this station 2017 there was no bar or restaurant that served alcohol. All the places serving food had only snacks or junk food.
