Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Before or after visiting Rosenberg castle it would be nice to stroll , relax or even take photos of the flowers and wonderful surroundings. Some nice statues with definite history in it can also be worth noting. No charging fees for visiting this one.

This park with lots to see and do is free to go to and is beautiful. Well looked after and a castle at one end( entrance fee), it is lovely to spend a while wandering. There are lots of different areas to explore with statues and colourful plants. Plenty of seating to sit and enjoy. There are toilets and a cafe in the gardens too.

Lovely park, well laid out. Popular with locals for family and friends picnics on a sunny summer day. Pleasant to wander through and enjoy the gardens and peaceful surroundings in the heart of the city.

These beautiful gardens are a great place to relax in the city. Although we visited after the prime growing season, the flower beds were neatly kept and fall flowers were in bloom. The tree lined paths led us to several different gardens and we enjoyed the views of the Rosenberg castle.

I found this park wonderful to stroll in. I ventured through it yesterday and it made for a nice experience when journeying through the city center of Copenhagen. Lovely statues, good green and a friendly inviting atmosphere.

This is one of my favourite parks in Copenhagen. Lovely green and quiet. It can be used by everyone. Picnic, sunbathing, celebrations and quiet time with your love one. For the children there are a playground. At the Hercules Pavilion you can have refreshments. There are also a rosegarden.

Delightful parklands accompany the grand Rosenborg Castle, which apparently was Christian IV’s favourite abode.
Lovely walkways traverse the extensive greenery lined with lines of trees. While the Castle is the premier architectural focus, other fine buildings are also here.

A fair bit of construction going on when we were here. Nice views of some surrounding buildings and close to Nyhavn.

I proposed to my girlfriend here on a beautiful spring day. It's a lovely spot with well cared for gardens, ideal for whiling away the hours.

Hello. I will go to CPH for one day only. I will have roughly 7 hours between 11 to 18:00.
My question is: if my main aim is to visit the Kronborg castle, then how long i might have in the Copenhagen city itself, and what other sites I can make it to, in this time? I understand that they need to be close to the station, where I need to be back to catch the bus back! Thanks :)

Hi,
I am not sure my answer will be useful to u or not bcz I know I am a bit late in replying you. And I'm sorry for that.
Well I haven't been out of Copenhagen city itself but kronborg castle is an hour away from the city itself. So let's say an hour to go there and an hour to come back and u may want to give 30 mins for waiting bus or trains on both direction
You would have 4 n half hrs which I think u may take atleast an hr and half in kronborg castle then u end up having 3 hrs so I think in 3 hrs it is not worth to see anything. However if u really insist then I suggest the best place is to get off on kongen nytorv station then go to nyhavn street. You will love that area. From there walking distance is Amalienborg and frederiks kirke. A little bit more further walking distance you can visit kastellat and the little mermaid with gefionspringvandent.
Rosenborg slot with its huge park, rundetaarn and the shopping streets are a bit further but it's worth to see.
I suggest you can hire a bicycle so you can visit these places faster in short time. I hope this is helpful.
