While near Kastellet ...

We stumbled across this fountain when leaving Kastellet and it was beautiful. Add some sunbeams and you get a magnificent view!

The Gefion fountain whilst not working during the winter, is a magnificent statue with an interesting myth. The Norse goddess Gefjun traveled through Sweden disguised as a homeless woman. When she came in front of King Gylfi, he granted her as much land as she could plow in one day. Gefun summoned her four sons, and turned them into oxen.... More

We've visited this fountain in the Summer 2016, and it was so vibrant with all the water. It tells the mythical story of the creation of the island of Zealand on which Copenhagen is located. It also is a place of wishing well and everyone throws a coin for a wish. Strongly recommend it

Nice sculpture / statue of Gefion. Try to learn the story before you go. Major remodel completed, though no water in wintertime.

Unfortunately at this time of year there is no water in the fountain, spoils it really. But beautiful and worth the time.

We went in October and there was not water running down the fountain, but I imagine with water it is magnificent. Still worth the visit to Kastellet Park. I hIghly recommend biking this park. If you walk you will not get to see it all. It is beautiful. You see St. Albans church, the Little Mermaid, a battery, a beautiful... More

The Gefion fountain is not a million miles away from the Little Mermaid so both can be enjoyed in a relatively short space of time. The fountain, which is also a wishing well, is impressively large and detailed and features Norse goddess Gefjun driving her four sons whom apparently she has transformed into oxen! (As you do.) The land she... More

We enjoy large fountains with statues, and this one is no exception. The statue is lovely, and we really liked the layered effect. We visited on a Friday in mid-June, and it was not crowded - only a handful of visitors, which is nice.
