We stopped in the gardens for a contemplative 30 minutes and enjoyed the birdsong and sunshine. Plenty of places to sit and take in the surroundings. We did not go into the library itself, the sight of an armed policeman outside put us off.

Libraries are usually not on the top attraction list when you visit a city. I wouldn't put it on either, but if you have time, this attration is worth a visit. It's not only the books and interior but also very much the architecture.

The famous building known as the black diamond, due to its shape and reflections on its surface, is the national and the university library of Copenhagen. It was founded in 1648 by Frederick III and today has five sites, but this one is the most...More

We thought the black diamant part was better from the outside than from the inside, but do recomment to go in to see the lecture room in the old building.

The new building called the black diamond is beautiful, and the views from the terrace are nice. For the architecture, step inside and have a look. There are (paying) exhibitions downstairs, but the treasures of the library (documents by HC Andersen, K Blixen, N Bohr...More

This is still actively used. The reading room is off limits except for those using it, and the collection of books is underground. Not much to see here. The cafe has a good view of the waterfront.

Love this library. Live in Copenhagen and have used it to study. But will continue to use it when i've finished. The cafe is way overpriced, but in the summer it is lovely to sit outside with a cup of coffee by the water or...More

Absolutely glorious building and must be a wonderful place to study. Not much to really to see as a tourist, but clearly that's not the point of it!

We walked around the area as part of our Borgen walking tour, from the Christiansburg Palace. Very impressive building. You do get the impression that some of the 1960s and 1970s buildings were allowed without much thought as to their impact on the skyline but...More
