Born of a fairy tale by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the statue incarnation of the Little Mermaid has watched over Copenhagen's harbor since 1913. In 2010, Den Lille Havfrue, as she is known in Danish, left her post to represent Denmark at the World's Fair in Shanghai.

We visited the little mermaid statue as it is a famous landmark in Copenhagen. Unfortunately it was full of tourists climbing on the statue , talking hundreds of selfies posing with the peace sign and generally bus loads of rude tourists.

Not much to see but the history is there. We saw it from our boat tour and that was plenty. Glad we didn't make the extra effort.

Unimpressive in itself but its history and sentimental value to the Danes make it worthy of a visit.

Nothing much... jus a mermaid statue. You can read abt the story before going down to take pic. It's exactly what you see from the website. I won't recommend my friends to go. Sorry.

It's a smallish statue on a rock like two feet from the stairs in a see wall and there's a mass of people around. It's near the cruse ships and a short walk from much better things to see, but if your already here you...More

It's really strange how this plain sculpture became a symbol of a city with so many other wonderful attractions.
