Richard Karpen is a phenomenal tour guide, and a genuinely nice person. We took both of his tours, the tour of the castle and the walking tour of Copenhagen. His knowledge of the city and the Danish way of life and social contract, which is...More

This tour was great. Richard is a very interesting person. Well traveled and well read. He has great knowledge of Copenhagen and the culture of Denmark and was able to compare and contrast things with the US as that was what the group I was...More

We joined Richard's regularly scheduled 9:30 tour on the suggestion of Rick Steves Denmark travel guide. There were only four of us, so we had plenty of time to ask questions and learn even more from this enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. He clearly loves Copenhagen...More

We were a group of four who booked two private tours with Richard. The City highlights and Rosenberg Castle. Both were well worth time and money. Richard has wonderful info and a true flare for presentation. He kept our attention while we asked questions that...More

No reservations needed; just show up at tour time. Our host in his Hans Christian Andersen outfit was warm, welcoming, engaging and informative. Born in the Bronx, he exudes admiration for Copenhagen, Denmark and the Danish lifestyle. He lives here half the year. We had...More

With 3 teenagers we set out for a walking tour with H.C. Andersen, leaving from the TI station near the central station. All of us were entertained and learned so much! (Sometimes hard to entertain teenagers, but he was so funny and interesting!) all about...More

I, my wife and two kids (16-year-old and 14-year-old) visited Copenhagen in August 2016. I got to know this tour from Rick Steves' Europe guide book and decided to give it a try. I am very glad to have taken Richard's tour. He is very...More

Lovely information about Andersen's life, with dioramas and timelines as well as displays and copies of many of his works. Some of the models are a little creepy but on the whole it has not aged too badly, and it is really nice to see...More

So glad we took this tour. The walk itself took about 70 minutes, and Richard Karper [aka H.C. Andersen] just talked about the buildings we passed; the only building we entered was the Church. The real value of the tour was in his introduction to...More

The charge was $20. We ended at the round tower. Not sure he ends all tours the same place. I would ask at the beginning. It seemed he customized it for the groups interests.
