My favourite part of Copenhagen

A historical and lovely part of the City with its old houses and picturesque courtyards and canals- ideal for a stroll

A good place to visit while you're in Copenhagen. It's a very "hip" place, more ideally for youngsters and adventurer. I had the opportunity to explore the area and compared to Nyvahn. It's more quiet and less "touristy". Visit the Church of Our Savior while you're in Christianshavn. Easily accessible via bike, walking, tour bus and the usual public transport.... More

The area has a Bohemian sort of feel with the many residential properties and house boats. See it as part of the canal tour because you get the bonus of commentary as you slowly sail through!

We were staying very close to Nyhavn so went for a wander over the bridge to see what else there was to look at. Very pretty place with some nice restaurants near by.

We stopped here on our way to Christiania. Our bus stopped outside a bakery that was jam-packed to the door. It had, my sister said, the best pastries in the world!

We wen here in February and I found it OK but I could imagine that in summer it would be really crowded. There are lads of bars an shops, Just thought it was quite spoiled.

I came to see this place several times in my 4 days holidays during the daylight and night too. It was romantic and magical walking down with my gentleman.

Lovely view with the coloured building and the boats by the river. Cold during winter but still nice to walk around during day time. Very lively with loads of cafes and pubs around.

Staying in Christianshavn

Neighbourhood Profile
Christianshavn
Just across one of the many bridges from Indre By, you’ll find Christianshavn. An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.
