About
The Round Tower Lookout Tower – Observatory – Exhibitions – Concerts. One of the best-known and most popular structures in Denmark, the Round Tower has been a distinctive feature of the Copenhagen skyline since 1642. The Tower once soared far above the rest of the rooftops in the city, and University astronomers studied the stars and planets from the Observatory at the top. The scholars may have forsaken the building a long time ago, but during the winter visitors are still able to gaze at the cosmos from Europe's oldest functioning observatory. The platform that runs around the outside of the Observatory affords views over the old Latin Quarter – from here, you can spot most of the city's famous buildings. The Round Tower does not have an elevator, so visitors have to climb the winding, white-washed Spiral Walk, where kids often hide in the niches, only to jump out shouting “boo!” as adults approach. Halfway up the tower is the entrance to the large and stunningly beautiful Library Hall, which now serves as a popular gallery and concert venue. It hosts several exhibitions a year, and stages concerts almost every week. Above the Library is the Bell Loft, notable for its enormous wooden beams, which were used in the reconstruction of the Tower following the great fire of Copenhagen in 1728. The Loft is also home to a small exhibition of fascinating artefacts from the Tower's history, including Christian IV's wax seal, a tin of medicine produced by Tycho Brahe, and a piece of the bomb that exploded in the Library Hall during the bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807.The Round Tower was built by Christian IV between 1637 and 1642. It was the first part of the Trinitatis Complex, which combined church, library and observatory in a single building.

Address
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

The Tower was very close to our B&B, so it was a spontaneous visit because it looked interesting. We were very early as out-of-sync travellers and were able to walk right in and enjoy a less crowded experience, taking our time. Travelling with our children and parents, we all got something different out of the visit, and each enjoyed the 360 views of the city.
The history was long, they had great peeks into the structure, and it is the highest, continuous ramp ascent I’ve ever done- so not for folks who move with assistance.

This is well worth visiting and even for over 70 year olds in fairly good shape, it's a leisurely uphill walk on a level floor which winds around the tower. It is about 6 storeys in height with a final short narrower staircase (one way controlled) to be completed to reach the observation deck. The deck is an easy walk around with panoramic views and photo shots are superb. No longer included in the Copenhagen Card, it costs 40 DKK per person.

Absolutely recommended visit. Little queue to enter and ticket paid only €5 per person (free entry with the Copenhagen card).
The tower is a building from which to admire the most beautiful panorama of the city. You walk along a long helical ramp, there are no steps and you reach almost 35 metres. You can also visit the fantastic observatory built in 1600 and still intact (fascinating).

A reasonable price just 40DKK per person for entry, which includes free science exhibition. Walking up the sloped walkway to the top of the tower is cool and very different from other European buildings we have been into. The observatory was closed when we visited but we were able to look at the telescope which was also cool.
The best part is the panoramic views at the top of the house, it was a clear sunny day and so ideal for seeing the rooftops of Copenhagen.
I recommend a visit.

A must if you are in Copenhagen, it is in the center so you do not have to make who knows what struggles to get there. The entrance fee is about 5 euros more or less, it is a particular tower that between one level and another also presents a small interactive exhibition. At the top everything leads to the panoramic roof with a beautiful view of the city.

Interesting round tower in the middle of town. Often houses exhibitions - a modern art instalment was on when we were there. Easy to walk to the top, using a circular ‘corridor’, finishing with a few steps. Traffic light system at the top to allow people up and people down the final small amount of steps. Views given over Copenhagen . Many toilets including an original toilet about 1/2 way up / with a long drop shaft- obviously for display only. With it only being 40 DDK, it is probably one of the cheapest historical things to do in Copenhagen.

Great views of Copenhagen city at the top. Fairly steep climb to get to the top but manageable for most. Sunset and early dusk is a great time to see the city and all its lights. Not a must go but an interesting view of the city.

You can go inside the church for free, but the tower costs only 40kr. Be ready to wait in a queue!
The tower also had exhibitions, toilets and a little shop. The stairs are only at the very top of the tower and it even has a cute little traffic light.
Amazing views at the top and definitely worth a visit if you don’t have to wait in a queue very long.

This is a fairly popular attraction and seems to always involve a short wait as there is obviously a limit to how many people can go in at one time. The cost for a adult ticket was 40 Danish Krona. It is an easy gentle walk up to the final section until you reach a final set of steep stairs. Providing you don't have any walking difficulties it very doable for all age groups. The views are fairly decent from the top although I would not describe them spectacular. For the price is it a very affordable thing for all budgets although I would say it is a fairly shot attraction to attend. Kids seem to find it more exciting than the adults from what we noticed.

An unusual ascent to the viewing platform at the top and good value for money. Unexpectedly there was an exhibition of constellation and space photography by a Danish artist which added an extra dimension to this visit. We spent around an hour here.

Tip: Choose a sunny day for the best views!
