A walk

With many people there but its the danish mentality and nice people that are the best asset here, shops are the same all over but again the smile is always close by

Heading down this street is the best way to reach the main sights around Copenhagen. With the Nyhavn canal at one end and City Hall/Tivoli Gardens at the other, the street branches off to other major sights such as Rosenburg Palace, The Round Tower and Christiansborg Palace. The main shopping street in Copenhagen is said to be the longest in... More

It is always good to shop in a car free zone and the Stroeget provides this. Even if you don't want to shop there are plenty of interesting sites along the route which runs between the town square and the harbour.

All the designers and High Street Stores are here as well as the huge Magasin du Nord department store. Very busy on a Saturday, the side streets have lots more small boutiquey shops.

Strøget is a nice pedestrian street with all you need og pubs, cafees, restaurants, shops and shopping centers. It has a lot of exclusive shops and several cheaper brands. In Christmas time they have several Christmas markets along the street. Hotels and sights are also just a short walk away.Metro to the airport is in the end of the street,... More

Wanted to get to Nyhavn and got off the Metro. Went wrong way and discovered the pedestrian zone. Spouse and children enjoyed shopping immensely for over 3 hours. Nice stores with a lot of Black Friday specials. Christmas market was opened. Good family time.

Stroget area is a pedestrian area which is nice to go for a walk, but I was dissappointed by the shops - unless you can afford the expensive brands, you will see the usual Zara, H&M and that's about it. While the shopping was not great, it was a pleasant walk.

Staying in Indre By (Inner City)

Neighbourhood Profile
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.
