Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cool place even if you’re not there to use the library. Great views. Lots of great play equipment around the outside. Wish the coffee shop was open longer hours.

Nice modern place. Usually go there just for library or sometimes for dance events outside the building. Very good view and big spaces.

The building is an architectural sight to behold by itself, with a number of playgrounds that are artistically done up on the 1st level. The interior is modern and tastefully designed, giving the visitors pleasant surprises when walking around the compound. The 1st level also gives an amazing view of the waterfront and beyond into the far horizon. Highly recommend to visit.

We had so much fun walking around the outside (& playing on the equipment even if we are grown ups!). There were amazing views of the city & the harbour (an especially good view of the Royal Yacht). The coffee shop is also nice & we found it very amusing to watch the book return machine! There is also a tourist information desk here.

Spent a lovely morning here with our toddler. The indoor play area is amazing, especially the section for 0-3 year olds. There are activities for older kids too (video games, art spaces, ping pong, etc). In the book part of this library, I found a little section of kids English books. And we never even made it to the outdoor playground!

Getting to Dokk1 was difficut, there are lots of road work, but then driving out of the place was even more impossible. So many confused drivers were lost and could not figure out how to get out. Me included!
Driving a car in Aarhus is just very difficult and slow. And parking is very expensive.
The building Dokk1 is a little bit too grey in my opinion, grey colour, concrete and almost looking primitive, - "less is more" seems to be the concept everywhere in Aarhus.
Watch out for bicycles almost running you over.

Parking in the underground 'automatic' parking system was both very expensive and took a lot of time. Driving in and around the building was very confusing, as far as I could see also for the locals. Dokk 1 is supposed to be the worlds best library. That is a real joke. Small selection and nothing of interest for locals and visitors alike. Otherwise a modern rather boring building with little to offer unless you are a student, where you can find a place to study and drink coffee.

The library is a free public space and one of the most successful libraries in the world. Stop at the info desk, the official tourist info office for Aarhus to plan your stay, and get the free wifi login. Then grab a snack and a coffee from the cafe and pull up a chair by the window near the gong.
Enjoy the sea view, let the family know you’ve safely arrived and wait for the gong. When you see a cluster near the gong, an interactive art installation, you’ll know a charming family ritual is about to happen. The families are waiting for new parents to press a button at the maternity hospital in town and ring the gong to announce their new baby.
Families are especially welcome at Dokk1, indoor play space abounds for all ages including a gaming space. Especially attractive for families is the playground around the building - bring a picnic - but expect a breeze even in very good weather.
