Saint Spyridon Church , the miraculous and Saint of Corfu The history and the tradition of our local Church from 1456 is imminently connected with Saint Spyridon. The arrival of his holy relic from Istanbul, his staying in Corfu, the built of his church along with the establishment of five big feasts based on Him led the christians to believe that Corfu cannot exist without Him. But even our local Church owes Him a lot. Not only did He protect it during the hard times of the Venetian Occupation, but also from other foreign occupations. French, Russians, English, Italians and Germans have passed over our island, staying for different lapses of time.

The church tower is an important landmark in Corfu Old Town. Inside are kept the relics of the Saint which you can visit. No photography is allowed inside.

This isn’t a big church and lots non descriptive from the outside. The vault of the Saint is beautiful. The silver casket he was in was spectacular. People were lined up to get in simply to kiss his casket. The old wooden pews were lovely.

You cannot miss a visit to this beautiful church because it is right along the busy tourist path through the shopping area. What I always enjoy is when they offer a little opportunity to buy something there to remind you of your visit. Here I...More

This place makes me wish I understood more about the Orthodox religion. It is, nonetheless, a welcome opportunity to break away from the cruise ship hordes and give thanks for the opportunities we have to share in other people's experiences.

You can only walk there actually the church is located to the old town so there are no roads only around the old city. You can take a bus possible- if there is - to Liston and from there is only 3 min walking distance
