- elpereiraNieuw-Vennep, The Netherlands69 contributionsGreat trip to the blue cave from the harbour of KastellorizoHighly recommend getting on Anthony's boat. He speaks english, explains all sorts about the island, cave etc and dropped us off at beach clubfor a couple of hours and then picked us up again at the agreed time. All for one fixed price which is the same as the other boat operators but some don't speak english so no explanation.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 May 2024
- Cjay00Ayr, Australia31 contributionsAn experience we won't forget, thank you Antonis, you are a true gentleman!Surreal experience for the whole family. We were recommended to use Antonis (red boat) for this tour and were not disappointed. He was very safety conscious at all times and did an excellent job of explaining what we were seeing as well as some of the island history. He was happy to amswere any questions we had equally well in English and Greek language. He was the perfect gentleman and tour guide, highly recommend to tour with Andonis.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 June 2024
- SarahLondon, United Kingdom35 contributionsAwesome experience - incredible blue cave you can swim in!We took the morning ferry from Kas for the day to Kastellorizo & made a beeline for Antoni’s red boat as recommended on here. We pre-booked our boat ride for 1pm as all the trips were busy til then so we wandered around the beautiful harbour spotting the turtles! The boat trip was amazing - Antoni spoke Greek & English & also took lots of photos & videos of us in the cave itself - thank you! We’ve visited similar blue caves before but never been able to actually swim in there. It is a fantastic’wow’ moment when the boat enters the cave (you have to duck down!) & you see the blue colour 💙. One of the highlights of our holiday!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 August 2024

Be careful! The blue cave is very beautiful, but the Boot Tour you choose is important for you to enjoy the cave. Do not choose Barbara & St. Georg Daily Cruises, which are close to the St. Georg Church of the island. It is very fast for you to get in and out of the blue cave by taking more customers than the boat's capacity (as there are too many people in the big boat). captain disrespectful and aggressive...

We arranged a trip with Captain Kostas for 4 of us, we arrived and found him very friendly and obliging. He pointed out various features on our journey & we entered the grotto & were the only people there. He pointed out interesting geological features with his spotlight & then we all went for a swim - it was magical. Captain Kostas took many photos for us. I can not recommend he and his boat more highly. He is a delight.

A short speed boat ride up the coast you find a small entrance to the blue cave. At first it just looks dark. Then your eyes start to adjust to the beautiful colour the sun brings. It's pricy to go but definitely worth it. My friend braved a swim in the chilly waters. We went with Antonis who was a safe driver, entertained us with his singing and gave us a few bits of information along the coastline.

The guide was a nervous guy who didn't take the guests into consideration and just wanted to fill his boat and make money. The trip cost €15 and we were only in the grotto for 2-3 minutes, far too short to get an impression.
When entering and leaving the grotto we had to lie on the bottom of the boat so that we didn't hurt ourselves on the rocks... He took so many guests on the boat that we barely had any space. He was neither friendly nor professional.

On our day trip from Kas to Kastelorizo we were thankful to have been advised to pick up Captain Kostas Water taxi service to the Blue Grotto. He was very helpful in organising a second taxi to accommodate of group of 13. The trip into the Grotto was stunning and the captain put us ashore on the islet St George for a lovely stay on the sun terraces with excellent sea bathing and a lovely restaurant. He collected us at a prescribed time to return us to the harbour with plenty of time to catch our ferry back to Kas. A splendid day trip.

If you have the opportunity to visit the island and the cave, be sure to do it! We were on vacation in Kemer and used the services of Coral Travel to visit the cave. In the morning we went by bus (there were 20 people in total from three hotels) to the city of Kas, then by ferry to the Greek island of Kastelorizo (Meis), then by boat to the cave, then transferred to a smaller boat to go inside the cave. After returning to the island, visit a restaurant and walk around the city. Everything was organized by the guide. The entire trip is approximately from 07.00 am to 20.00 pm. The cave is magnificent, the town is simply wonderful. Restaurant (Alexandra's Restaurant) - very good. Don't forget sun protection!

Two of my friends and I were told a water taxi was 10 euro a person, he charged us 50 and didn’t let us swim in the grotto. He was the first one available when we got off the ferry, and another taxi driver informed us that was entirely too much money and we needed to walk further than pay 50 euros. I would go with a different company.

Lovely but do not go with Kostas. We called him and asked him whether to go there in the next day as it was around 14.30 local time. He said that the weather is very good and that it is the same. We went there and it was impossible to enter the Cave by boat. He said that he could drop us off the next day early in the morning for free (actually we have paid the 15€ the previous day without seeing the Cave). We had the alarm at 7.30 and we went at our appointment at 08.20.. suddenly he said the other couple wanted a private tour due to Covid; fair enough. He suggested to call us back.. we are still waiting of that phone call. It is our mistake though, we felt from the very first moment it was better to pick a visit in the morning but we trusted the persistant calls of Mr Kostas that the weather is perfect for visiting the Cave.

We were lucky to find the best boat to take us there. Mr. Antonis made sure we were safe on the boat at all times and provided lots of information about the blue cave and the surrounding areas. The grotto itself was a magnificent place and diving into that paradise blue water felt wonderful. Water is deep and at the end of it there a small beach, where seals go to rest. One of the best experiences we ve had.

Booked 12pm trip to Blue cave with captain kostas, 'first one as you get of from Kas'.
Had drinks, turned up at 12, wanted to up price to 20 euros each instead of 10? Said private tour better as otherwise confusion???
Said we would wait for others, no show. Then saw him nabbing another couple into his boat for a trip and gesticulating for us to wait!
On seeing the boat leave, we abandoned the idea and went for lunch! Strange!!!

Hi, Where can I find Captain Antonis to take me to the blue Grotto - I will be in Rhodes this July 2019
Written 27 June 2019
Hello, What would be the best way and how long would it be to get from Athens to the Blue Grotto?
Written 11 September 2017
Hi Amanda,
Fly to Rhodes island (from Athens or your country) and then fly to Kastelorizo island (35 min by Aegean airways).
From Kastelorizo to Blue Grotto take the boat (daily cruises cost around 10€ / person, duration 30' min)
You can reach Kastelorizo also by a ship :
from Rhodes (3 1/2 hrs)
from Pireaus (20 hrs)
Tickets from : Blue Star Ferries Line

Hi there, we are planning a day trip to Kastellorizo to do the Blue grotto (from Rhodes Island). Would love some advice on ferries. Do they do day trips to Kastellorizo?
Written 17 April 2017
No day trip boats from Rhodes. The boat will take about 4 hours. Stay a few days in Kastellorizo. It's beautiful, relaxing and fairly quiet!
Go to the grotto, museum, churches, good walks.
Restaurants around the harbour are great.
You can also go across to Kas in Turkey.
Stay at Hotel Kastellorizo.

Hello! I'm off to Kastellorizo next week and wondered whether you have contact details for Captain Kosta's tours or any help on where to find him? And roughly how much does it cost? Also, when is the best time of day to go - do you know?
