It's a tough and hard walk .. You have to climb although when you reach at the top the view is fascinating.. You could feel fumes coming out from some of the rocks. The access to this sight is though ferry.. Once reached at the...More

The walk up the volcano was not extremely difficult but would not recommend to people who have difficulties uphill, as it is a bit rocky and steep. However, the views are absolutely to die for!!! We went on a tour with santorini excursions - Dakoutros...More

The volcano is active one and last known activity was in the 50s and it was a mild one. Here we need to hike for a mile to see the active volcano. Not the lava bubbling sight, but just a vantage point.:)

It was interesting to explore this volcano- definitely something very different. The walk to the top was quite tiring. make sure to wear runners as it is quite rocky and steep at times. Saw lots of rocks and some steam in some parts. Overall a...More

In my opinion you can't go to Santorini and not set foot on Nea Kameni (the Island in the middle of the caldera). We did one of the boat trips (Dakoutros brothers) and the whole trip took a couple of hours. It was interesting to...More

Awesome adventure to walk on an active volcano where you can see many beautiful views of Santorini. Walk among the volcanic rocks and feel hot spots along the way.

I agree with kcarters. It's not an easy climb at times and the footing is always unstable, so I'd advise that you leave it for another visit. The view is amazing but not worth the danger for you

I have read some reviews that say you have to be a strong swimmer to visit the thermal pools. Is this correct or can you access the area from the shore?

You don't have to be strong but definitely steady. The boats moor about 100-150m away (they are generally too big to get in closer) so you have to be capable of making the swim there and back. If you have coloured hair don't... More
