Scenic stroll along the charming harbour

Pleasant to walk and take a coffee. People watch and look at boats. What else? Should be on a nice sunny day!

The old Venetian harbor of Rethymno is one of the city's main attractions. Especially in the evenings with all the lights from the surrounding restaurants taverns & buildings and the egyptian lighthouse at the dock entrance is a marvelous spectacle. Almost all round fish restaurants offer great selection of fresh fish though some might be a bit pricey so check... More

The Venetian is a small harbour but worth a walk around, beware of the the restaurant staff harassing you to have a meal. There are plenty of great restaurants away from the harbour.

Nice place to have a look at & to take some photos/feed the fish, but be prepared to fend off the extremely high pressure, overbearing waiters at the restaurants..a real put off..literally blocking the path to stop anyone walking through and belligerently badgering them until they give in and sit down..we are seasoned travellers but this was just too much..

We walked around the harbour,it is touristy but the restaurants display the fish that will serve you in different presentations. The harbour surrounds are attractive lots of history if that interest you.

The harbour at Rethymnon was built by the Venetians . It's a small but pretty harbour lined by restaurants specialising in seafood . The staff can be pushy which is understandable given levels of competition but they will not hassle you . Easily accessible and welcome break after a visit to the Venetian Fortress. It can used as a Pitstop... More

Great restaurants with fresh fish on display. However, bread and dip will probably arrive prior to your meal, but you will be charged for it despite not asking for it. Access to the several harbour restaurants is a bit tight for wheelchair users but you will be able to negotiate it and be accommodated at a table pretty easily. Main... More

Enjoyable. Good view of sleek ships of sale. Colourful fishing boats bobbing up and down in the harbor. A vast fortress overlooks the sea. Slope off into the old Venetian town and take your camera or sketch book. Much to see and enjoy.

Erotocretos is an amusing name for a great restaurant. The concierge at our hotel recommended it because her daughter and the son of the waiter went to the same school. She even gave us a discount card. Despite the obviously biased recommendation it turned out to be a fabulous meal. You have to walk the gauntlet of other restaurants to... More
