I visited Rethymnon 8 years ago. It has changed since then: a lot of tourists and waiters trying to hail you inside a restaurant. Despite that, I still enjoyed our walks in the car free centre and the wonderful restaurants we visited.

Lots of cafes and restaurants, and shops to visit, narrow little streets to wander around, beautiful cute small houses too. One of the few surviving minarets from the Turkish occupation, to admire. You should definitely explore this small town and you are going to love...More

We wandered around the old town area of Rethymnon one morning and found a delightful square with lemon and orange trees, the scent was amazing so we sat on the old bench and relaxed in the warm sun for a good while.

Enjoy the sights. Enjoy a drink and people watch. Fabulous place to do a bit of shopping and see the locals as well as the tourists.

My only regret is not having enough time to tour this city as I would have liked! So many beautiful narrow streets, old and new markets, appealing restaurants.. do allocate a day or two in this beautiful town. You will not regret it :)

The old town is narrow streets paved with history. Every turn you take you find there is something to catch your eye, beautiful architecture, lovely souvenirs, smiling faces especially at Yog-inn and feel jewellery. There is also a painters shop across the road from it that...More

The port area itself is very crowded with restaurants tables and might be very difficult to handle with a wheel chair . the rest of the streets are manageable.

I think that this hotel is a good choice, if you do not care that the beach is near. I prefer hotels that are near the beach but also close to the city center. In any case, I recommend that in addition to spending time on... More
