The fortress is well worth a walk round. Very reasonable price to enter and take a leaflet available in various languages. The views from the site are really good. I think it’s suffered from the economic downturn with little ongoing maintenance at the site which...More

The Venetian Fortezza offers a nice walk around with breathtaking views over the city of Rethymnon. It is important to be careful when visiting the site with young children due to the limited protection of the walls.

The best and bigger castle in Crete, in a very good condition. Ot also has a summer theatre. You van see panoramic the city and Cretan sea from there. The best place in Rethimno.

If you are in Rethimnon and you are into ancient history you have to visit this site. For only 4 Euro you get entrance and a map to guide you. On walking distance from the old harbour and the ancient city.

It's close to the harbour and well worth the walk up to the entrance. The paths to the various parts can be fairly rough if pushing a baby in a buggy. Take some sun block as there's little cover between parts of it, otherwise enjoy...More
