Located in the old electricity power plant, the museum is dedicated to the flora and fauna from the Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea. It is an interesting exhibition, good value for money, well-organized and maintained, with attentive and helpful staff.

The museum was good in parts. Even at the age of 24, I still love anything dinosaur related! The few live animals on display were a lovely touch too. However, we were done in a short amount of time and for what we paid to...More

A Totally cool spot to spend the day. There are dioramas of the animals and the flowers, trees and nature of Crete. There are also dinosaurs to look at, a movie theatre to see science and cultural films and an Earthquake classroom. WOW! Yes it...More

Do not miss this museum, especially if you have children. The dinosaurs are wonderful and so realistic. An unexpectedly entertaining visit.

Visited today and enjoyed our trip. Best exhibit was the one with live animals (e.g lizards, snakes, turtles) and the earthquake part with the chance to experience an earthquake simulation. Some parts were a bit boring such as stuffed animals but this can be expected...More

We went there with two toddlers and were really impressed with the effort the curators had made to capture the children's attention. As well as some impressive and very life-like (as if I would know!) dinosaurs, there are plenty of sensory experiences for children. Our...More

Not entirely sure why this has such a high rating, 80% stuffed animals which are not historical and mostly still around. 5% scientific illusions etc, 10% live snakes and reptiles and finally a seriously poor earthquake simulator that is about 15 square feet with a...More

Natural history museum is a great place to visit to see greek animals (alive or dead) and greek/cretan herbs. There are activities like the Earthquake Room where you can experience a live earthquake. These days there is also a Dinosaurs exhibition which is cool!

Besides the interesting exhibits, there is also a nice history behind the building itself, initially built as the first electrical power station for the city of Heraklion
