June 2013: Part of your Delphi trip

Some of the enjoyment of travelling to Delphi is seeing the arid terrain with olive trees. This is naturally a part of your Delphi trip.

The mountain area around and including the Delphi site is amazing and there are several little towns to explore as you go up the mountain toward Delphi. We stopped at Arachova which was like a ski town in CO for those from the states.

Mount Parnassus is, I believe, the second highest peak in Greece, after Mount Olympus. The ancient oracle center of Delphi is on the middle slopes, and the view from there across the valley and up to the mountain peak is priceless. I would NOT visit in winter as the roads are narrow with hairpin turns and switchbacks, exciting enough in... More

This is the mountain that sits above Delphi and it is a most impressive view - somehow the drive in and around here to get to the archeological site is made special by the most beautiful views from of and from the mountain and of the olive groves and valleys. It is a very special part of the world and... More

Parnassus is not just tall at 8000 feet but it's really massive. You get a feel for its size as you drive toward it. The southwest slope, site of Delphi is an incredibly beautiful location. Parnassus is home to several scenic villages, skiing and, of course, great historical sites. Put it on the agenda of your trip to Greece.

You can see Mount Parnassus in the distance from Delphi and it is beautiful. You can understand how it has become so important in the history of Greece.

A mountain that plays a very important role in Greek History and Archeology from the far remoted antiquity till today. And also a natural wonder! Tavellers can find here almost everything expected (or not). Very important ancient ruins in Delphi, spectacular archeological sites off the beaten track (Polydrosos and Lilaia), villages and towns full of character, cosmopilite flavour in Arachova,... More

Driving from Lamia, Thermopylae to Deplphi and Arachova and back to Lamia was amazing, breathtaking view on Parnassus. We'd love to go for a hike sometimes.

Well worth a visit to this historic region to soak up the history of the area. The mountains are a added bonus and are a great backdrop to the various sites around Delphi and should be visited if you are in this location.
