Neighbourhood: Monastiraki
Monastiraki is a souvenir-hunting enclave with a difference. Apart from the dramatic backdrop of the Acropolis, its network of alleys and pedestrianized streets surround the remains of both the Greek and Roman agoras, adding the quaint concept that this is where the ancients also came to shop. Named after the tiny monastery church at its center, Monastiraki Square is a lively spot by day or night, with street peddlers vying for your attention to sell you nuts and sweets. Down beside the metro station, the official Flea Market is an unbroken row of souvenir shops until you come to antique-oriented Platia Avissinias, while Pandrossou Street on the other side of the square offers more tourist shopping. The pedestrianized street beside the Greek Agora is lined with cafés offering fine views.

We ordered a lemonade and they brought us a glass of ice with 10% lemonade ! The value for money experience is very bad ! When we told the shop they told us that they put lemonade with a measuring cup which is the most ridiculous thing ever told !

I didn’t love the place. I was expecting more to be honest. It was so crowded and the music was extremely loud. At the point that we stopped talking because we couldn’t hear ourselves. And keep in mind that it’s not a club but a cafe-bar.
Also the speakers weren’t working properly and it was so annoying. One moment the left speaker were playing and at moments it would stop and the right one would start.
Another negative thing is that I ordered a “homemade lemonade” that was SO SOUR that I couldn’t drink it.
I swear I am not weird, I love sour but this was something else!! My friends tried it also and had the same opinion.
Overall it wasn’t one of the best places I’ve been. But I believe that if they fix some things it could be much better. It deserves it. The space is special.
Some of my recommendations would be to:
Add more plants so that it will give the impression of an outdoor garden.
Fix the speakers.
Add hangers at the bar tables for the purses and jackets.

Greta vibe in an old courtyard lit up by lanterns in amongst trees. Normally the small sections dotted around have different artists however covid had stopped this.

One of my favourites bars in Athens. In the very center of the city but quite hidden from most of the tourists. 5/5

I stopped by for a rest and a drink after a long day of walking around town. It's a very cool, trendy place. There's a shaded courtyard area which wasn't too busy when I visited (maybe due to Covid?). Unfortunately all of the art galleries look to be closed due to Covid, which was a shame! The staff were friendly and didn't mind that I was chilling out for quite a while on just one drink. It's a little bit off the touristy areas but well worth it!

Housed in an old Ottoman building from the 1800s and launched in 2009, it has proven its worth as a meeting point. Incorporating a bar, an upstairs large exhibition area and smaller multi-hued rooms used for specific presentations.
Interested in what the current exhibition comprised we ascended, but the large white expanse was empty, albeit still interested.
Mid-week the bar was well-frequented, attractive in subdued lighting, with tree branches illuminated.

We needed a place to relax with a coffee after the busy streets of monastriaki and this place fit the bill. It is a very relaxed and beautifully decorated place. Warm, quiet, with good coffee and hot chocolate. Nothing arty seemed to be happening when we were there and the smoking ban is very much ignored. Other than that it's a nice place.

Great little place with a strong sense of identity. Nice music and good drinks but when you go there, you are really there for the ambiance. There is always some kind of art installation there but I would recommend the older ones that were not as loud and modern, rather more artistic and "out there"
