A hidden gem just off monastriaki square. A great place to visit. A huge site to explore and amazing views of Parthenon and acropolis above. Well with a visit and only €30 for a multi site ticket.

Don't miss the amazing opportunity of having a long morning or afternoon walk among the ancient relics of the Ancient Agora of Athens. Enjoy the sun, the wonderful environment and see how the ancient greeks were feeling hanging out there and having their philosophic conversations. Remember to visit the excellent museum too !

If you come to the Agora looking for monuments and buildings, you will be disappointed. Go straight away to the Acropolis. However, if you come prepared having read about the ancient Athenian democracy, how this little hamlet of farmers, aristocrats and soldiers created the most consequential city in the history of mankind, having birthed both politics and arguably science, then... Well, this is a really must see place. It's were the ancient Greek civilization breed and developed. There were many commercial and educational buildings, along with big residences. Inside the area of Ancient Agora, there are two really interested buildings : the temple of Hephestus ( the best preserved temple of ancient Greece ) and the impressive gallery of Attalus,... More

Our hotel was a five minute walk to this ancient site. The entrance fee was 4 euros and we went around 9am to beat the crowds. It was a pleasure walking through the ruins, the Agoro museum that housed a good selection of artefacts as well as the Temple. There were only a handful of tourists walking through the site... More

The Ancient Agora was actually the first place I visited in Athens, a great introduction to the classical city. it is dominated by the Tower of Winds which dates from 50b.c. It is an octagonal tower with personifications of the wind on each side. inside on the floor is the ancient water clock. Fascinating place I must say. There are... More

We really enjoyed visiting the Ancient Agora in Athens. It is situated in the shadow of the Acropolis. Have been to the Acropolis on 2 previous occasions we decided to venture down the hill to the Ancient Agora. We were not disappointed. We really enjoyed the restored Stoa of Attalos and the museum. We walked the ancient grounds and visited... More
