The first industrial museum of Athens present the old Gasworks through a little stops museum walk, rich archival material every day objects from the plant photographs film screenplays. You find interviews by old workers and residents enriched with interactive applications. It is near metro station Keramikos and behind the cafe bars.

Located in the center of Athens, really close to metro station, it is ideal for people of every age to visit. The external area is big, there are cafes to enjoy your drink/food, whereas various events take place around. The sound is really good as well, video walls exist. Dinner in the sky is offered too.

This is a pleasant way to pass an hour or so if industrial heritage is your thing. It's the site of the old Athens gas works and some has been preserved and serves as a multi-site museum. The rest has been done up as trendy venues. Things to read in English though nowt to play with. Wouldn't recommend it for... More

Technopolis is the cultural center with many purposes: music concerts, theatrical production, art exhibitions, dance performances and many other creativity. The building initially was a factory of electrical lamp production held by France businessmen. Today it is multicultural monument of art.

This is a terrific site - a former industrial complex where coal was transformed into gas. Now it is a terrific museum and also a exhibition space, truly a must see when you are in Athens and have a little bit of interest in science and technology

The former gasworks factory, from which the Gazi area takes its name, has been transformed into Technopolis or ‘city of the arts’, an extraordinary multipurpose cultural centre in what was once one of the most rundown parts of the city. Many of the factory boiler rooms and pumping stations have been preserved, with pieces of the original machinery intact. After... More

Technopolis (Art City) is a multipurpose art complex located on the site of a former gasworks (therefore the Gas Museum). Art exhibitions, live music, workshops, installations, ...lots of different things to see and do depending on the time you are visiting.

Staying in Psirri / Gazi

Neighbourhood Profile
Psirri / Gazi
Side-by-side neighbourhoods Psirri and Gazi provide some of the city’s prime nightlife. The almost claustrophobic streets of Psirri feature an interesting blend of original small businesses with the restaurants, cafés and bars that have recently sprouted up. The central artery of Agion Anargiron Street has lively places to eat or drink. Further west, you can visit the peaceful ancient cemetery of Keramikos, then cross busy Pireos Street to find yourself in Gazi. With the huge Technopolis performance and art complex converted from old gasworks at its heart, you really have to come at night to appreciate this maze of bars at its best, although a daytime stroll will allow you to admire the excellent street art.
