Hard to find but easy ride up

It's fee station is east of the hospital and poorly sign posted but don't give up. Only €3 round trip. Nice way to get near the Citania ruins.

Great views from the funicular. You can see the whole town and you have the opportunity to visit Santa Lucia church.

Definitely worth experiencing at 3 euros for a return ticket. You get amazing views en route and it saves you the long climb yo the church at the top of the hill.

At 2 Euro one-way and 3 Euro round trip, it is a good value. The funicular ended up being very crowded, but on a Sunday morning at 10:00, we waited less than 15 minutes. While we had purchased the round trip ticket we decided to ride up and walk down. If you have any mobility issues, you will need to... More

Fun to do great view from the top. Restaurant toilets and souviner shops at the top. Trip lasts 7 mins each direction as no air conditioning it could be very hot in summer.

It's a much better option to go and visit Santa Luzia than going by car. You can enjoy beautiful views in a surprinsingly comfortable funicular. And it's also cheap!

The trip up was easier with the funicular but be warned - a bit slow and hot. Nice staff The location is by the hospital - was a little confusing

A fun way to get to the top at a decent price and no real queues. Definitely beats walking, especially with young kids. The staff were friendly (as we find throughout Portugal generally). The Santa Luzia church and views are worth the trip up in themselves, even if the views were obscured a little today by the pall of smoke... More

We always make a point of using funiculars (funiculi?) whenever we can. This one is pretty good - carriages a bit small but the ride down is smooth and views moderately good although nothing compared to the view at the top.

A modern carriage brings you towering above the town. You have to cross the bridge over the railway to access it from the town but well worth it.
