    Marvelous historic building
Gorgeous old building. There was a special display of the city charter from 1123 happening while we were there. The document itself was available for viewing in a glass case. We weren't able to wander freely throughout the building, but the parts we did see were well worth the visit.

    Perspective is everything
The Town Hall of Porto is situated at the top end of the Avenue of the Allies - so the view is usually impressive and stunning when having that long perspective towards the seats of power. However the Avenue is currently broken up by road works and the perspective is not really possible. It is however a nice neoclassical building from the early 20th century and open as of 1955 only. The bell tower is 70m tall, and there are both chairs and benches under the shades of the trees for a nice break.

    ok
it is a lovely building ( which you cannot visit ) in a square. The waterfall area in front of the building is a lot smaller than what it appears in the picture shown and there is a busy road in between the two. Not much more to say than that really.

    It was okay
We went here to take a picture in front of the Porto sign, after a 25 minute walk, was gutted to discover that it's no longer there! Took some pics outside and headed off to another site. Did not see inside as it was closed.

The town hall towers over the central square of Porto, Placa Liberdade. Its central tower is 70m high and there is a very popular Porto sign outside that is always swarmed with tourists snapping away.
I dont know if you can visit the inside, I didnt, but the building is one of the most impressive in the city and is well worth a stop.

Porto City hall is a neoclassic edifice standing in the very center, at the northern end of a huge square. A big central tower clock dominates it.
Unfortunately, the area is currently under heavy subway construction, so the views and moving around are limited.

This unique building, inspired by the architecture of the great municipal buildings of Northern Europe, stands on the top of the Avenida dos Aliados.
A robust and imposing work, whose construction began in 1920, designed by the architect AntĂłnio Correia da Silva and completed only in 1955.
In the center stands a 70 meter high tower, with a carillon clock, which symbolizes the importance that the Porto community attributes to city life.
The statue in front of the building, created by the sculptor Barata Feyo in 1954, depicts the poet Almeida Garrett (1799-1854).

Sumptuous monument with richly decorated and furnished interiors. The free visit was led by two very friendly and dynamic students. Please note that the proposed tours are only available in Portuguese and Spanish (or English).

The building itself was beautiful from the outside but we did not go in.

The reason to walk here is to take your photo in front of the large Porto sign. Be aware there is a long unofficial line to take your photo in front of it so be prepared to wait. Great photo!
