Puts American subways to shame. It's a bit of an honor system, in that there are no turnstiles so access is easy, but they do come around and check ticket validations so if you get caught cheating it'll cost several hundred Eur. There are elevators...More

The metro is really modern and clean but we could not work the ticket machine and had there not been a very helpful member of staff we would not have managed to purchase a ticket.

All in all pretty good service. We travelled from the Porto Airport to Marquis changing once. All the signs and announcement are in Portuguese and in English making it very easy. The ticket machine was a little tough to understand but not impossible. The carriages...More

This isn't the most complicated city metro, with only a few lines, but it does link some of Porto's key area and extends quite a way out of the centre. The carriages are wide with lots of standing room. It is easy to use, economical...More

Great public transport, affordable prices even for the Portuguese wallets which nowadays it's rare. Always clean

Brilliant way to get around and very cheap. Just read how to use the tap card (tap on before each line and with each line change but no tap off)

I only took it once when I visited Oporto last September. It is relatively new and quite clean - just like many metro rail system in Europe. However, it is not really an attraction itself.

Loved how clean and easy this metro is to use. Be sure and check out the dining car - they have great food and drinks.

Very stupid: 90% of the lines stops at the same stations and the airport line do the same losing a lot of time in station where nobody go in or out instead of maki g a direct link between airport and city center... Old tikets...More

Agree about the pass. Can also use trams and buses. Combine it with museums etc.

it depends on the zone. first you must by a card (0.60 euro if i remember well) and you refill it each time you use the metro! i used metro for long distances (airport) and i walk to see as more as buildings and sightseeings!

AT the metro station, we grabbed the pamphlet with the schedule on it. We tucked it in our backpack for reference. You should be able to get the info there or on the website. Good luck!
