We stayed at the Pestana Hotel in Ribeira Square. In the mornings (before 10) its quiet and very peaceful. Beautiful place to walk and take in all the sites while watching the workers set up tables and clean the boats getting ready for another busy...More

It's very exciting to be along the Douro River in Porto or Vila Nova de Gaia. Local flavour galore, soooo different then anything in North America. Don't miss it.

There are several cafes and restaurants to pick from. The views are nice and there are several interrsting thing in walking distance. You can also buy souvenirs and watch street performers.

This is just off the river waterfront, that filled with cafes, boat ride vendors and tourist shops.. the square does have a quite nice statue and a few shops but that’s about it...it does lead off to other quaint streets though

Amazing buildings, colours, full of history, full of life and people everywhere. It really gives you a perspective about a Portuguese city. Great place for photos but beware of the prices.

Pubs, restaurants, live music and street entertainment. If you like a good atmosphere and a place that is buzzing this is the place to be.

Many restaurants and shops typical of any city. The kind of place we walk through without stopping. By the river though.

One of the places that you must go at Porto. Really beautiful the combination of the river with the existing architecture. Recommended.

The square is very touristy with lots of bars and restaurants which are a lot more expensive than elsewhere. Worth a walk past but much nicer places around for a drink and food.

A taxi to the airport cost us a fixed price of €25 which is pretty cheap. Relying on public transport when catching a flight is always a bit risky. Our concierge booked the taxi for us.
