Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The square in front of the city's cathedral is turned outwards with a steep view on the houses below; and is closed off on all but one side by the cathedral and the Bishops Palace. So there is not really a lot of life except for tourists going in and out of the cathedral. No benches to sit and relax - the whole surrounding is not the best tribute to the cathedral - but there is a nice view in the other directions.

It’s quite a climb to reach it, but with an impressive view on the city. Good to visit the Se Cathedral, really beautiful and excellent view from the tower.

This square is located in front of the Se Cathedral. You have great views of the Old Town. However, the views are still better from the nearby bridge.
The square is bordered by the Cathedral, by the 18th-century Episcopal Palace and a granite tower from the 14th century.

Terreiro da Se framed by the building of the Cathedral. From this spot one can admire the complete Barredo area, Douro River and Vila Nova de Gaia.

The place is near to the Cathedral and it offers great views over Porto from the city center to the riverside. Really a good place to take photos. Recommended.

One of the better viewing locations to get a panoramic view of the old city, while also having ready access to the Se (cathedral).

You can get some beautiful views of the city from this perspective. And it is right next to the bold cathedral, so it should be a part of your tour.

We climbed way up this hill and enjoyed the view of the river and much of the lower city. And we were next to the cathedral, which is another lovely view. Full of tourists.

If you are visiting the cathedral then you will come here anyway but even if you have no interest in the cathedral it is only a short stroll up hill from the Sao Bento Railway Station and I would recommend the walk for two reasons.
The first is because you get good views across the rooftops of Porto from here and can orientate yourself with the major areas of Porto and secondly because you are then only a short downhill stroll to the Miradouro da Rua das Aldas, another good vantage point over the city roofs and then from here access to some of the best historic and narrow lanes of old Porto as you descend down to the Douro.

Wide plaza, or terreiro to be exact, outside the Cathedral which gives a wide overview of the roofs of the city and is good orientation for the other points of interest. Perhaps not worth the trek up if you are not visiting the cathedral, but a good viewpoint otherwise.
