Suprising nice Gothic Cathedral, with later additions and modifications (the only unchanged remains the tower). The annexed cloister is also worth visiting.

We stopped in for a beautiful Saturday evening Mass. The Church is beautiful and has very nice painted ceilings.

The Portuguese are known for their tiles in architecture. The Cathedral is a remarkable example. Pictures are NOT allowed inside. But, you have many photo opportunities outside, including the many tiers of steps and fountains leading one back down to the city.

Not one of the magnificent cathedrals that can bee seen around Portugal but worth a visit. The best part of this building is the Cloisters spanning both the16th and 18th centuries

Well worth a short trip and it is lovely and cool inside. Look at the height of the roof and imagine them building it and painting it.

The building as most in Portugal are in good shape and worthwhile to visit. We did like it. The difficulty in parking is always an issue

... but not this one. Supposed to be the 2nd oldest in Portugal but, to my eye, had little to commend it. One for the cathedral buffs.

Interesting history, combination of various styles. Try to collect some info before you visit, much more interesting than the bombastic stairs thing

Amazing architecture. Lamego is an adorable town to visit - make sure you go during the week if you want to do a little shopping - everything is closed on Sundays - but its all good and fun

Cathedral de Lamego well located in the city center near to the museum. It appeared a bit cool while viewed from outside. In fact, it has long history and had been built in 1129. Internal redecoration works were carried inside from the 16th century and...More
