It is the oldest cathedral in Portugal. Personally I liked very little both inside and outside. Few things to see and the exhibition path badly organized. Only positive note is the beautiful main facade decorated with a large number of statues. It is a Se, but the Murials made of the blue & white tiles are beeuatiful, Especially the walls upstairs. The entrance fee is 2 Euro, so it's ok. There are many rooms to discover. So see for yourself.

It's not often a specific church's beginnings can be attributed to Saint James. Or that Saint Peter of Rates was resurrected to be Braga's first bishop. This church has a varied collection throughout history, with the first thing we noticed was the old smell. The original structure dates from the 1000s, replacing a prior structure. The main chapel from the 1300s. The organ from the 1700s. And a lot of history in between. Most churches seem to have a specific theme or focus; in my opinion not this one, other than history itself.…

The Cathedral in Braga is nowhere near as ornate as some of the other churches and from the outside looks more like a fortress than a place of worship. Individual entry fees are charged for almost all areas except the courtyard and some tombs or you can pay €5 to visit the entire church. Personally I found it a bit underwhelming although it might have been more interesting if I had been prepared to pay the €5.…
