Sightseeing the Douro river from a cruise (which I rather not say the name, because I think my review may apply to most cruises) can be a very relaxing experience. Besides the views, that are simply breathtaking, you can have drinks, you have a very nice lunch, however, for me it was too much time spent in a cruise. So,... More

The trip started in Heathrow to Lisbon where we hd to wait over 1 hour for the first luggage to arive on the belt. We were then transported to the Tivoli Hotel about 15 minute walk from the main centre. The room was OK nothing special and the tea and coffee had to be paid for. The restaurant was fully... More

Very disappointed. We stayed at the Tivoli hotel in Lisbon to start with. Beautiful hotel but must be avoided at all costs due to noisy building works. Really, Viking should not be using this until after March. The restaurant is very dark and we couldn't see what the breakfast was. It was also cold. The city tour was poor, standing about... More

This scenery, cruise itself and service was good. However, this cruise was aimed at people purchasing the extremely expensive extra trips, the other passengers were forgotten. From past experience we decided not to go on these trips in the hope that we could look round on our own when we docked. We found this part of Portugal very poor and... More

Highway N108 is road to use to take in the vineyards and steep banks of the Duoro east of Porto. A must drive!

We stayed for a few days in August and the staff were incredible-helping to arrange early morning airport transport, wonderful restaurant recommendations and always a friendly attitude! Definitely would stay here again.

This area is absolutely stunning. The river, vineyards, driving challenges all combine to make this a thoroughly wonderful place.

I am so impressed by the scenery and the attractive towns and villages that the river flows past. The vineyards seem to go in forever. And there are hidden treasures to be found unexpectedly. The Portuguese people were friendly and welcoming and they all seemed to speak English. We had a great week.

We booked this tour through Viator and added the boat tour as well. Our guide for the day, Alex was wonderful, entertaining and very knowledgeable as he grew up in this region. The sites are so amazing and stunning that no pictures can do it justice. The vineyards we visited were lovely, the owners were both present and conducted our... More

Douro River is stunning from the border with Spain all the way to the sea at Porto and Villa Nova daGaia. You will see vineyards, olive cork and almond orchards. The towns Regua and Pocinha are gorgeous with very authentic local cuisine and of course the famous port wine. Here's a tip , white port with tonic and a wedge... More
