Had to compare this ride with ones in Italy and Switzerland so was not impressed with view over rooftops or dangling over a busy road or someone's washing line.

tourists aren't told enough how cheap the taxis are in Madeira, a taxi to Monte was only 17Euros, which if there is more than one of you works out a lot cheaper than the cable cars. However the views are superb from this car.

If you do the toboggan be carful of the taxi drivers trying to rip you off, there is a fairly regular bus back down about a 5 mins walk from the bottom of the toboggan ride (just check with the Horrarios bus company enquiries near the cable car bottom station, think it is the No 20 bus).
