Well it is. If a cable car it's self is a draw then €10 each isn't too bad. Not sure what a taxi would cost, but another option from the harbour area would be the tuk tuk, again not sure of the cost but surely less than €20 to Monte. At the top (Monte) unless you're into gardens youre only... More

The cable car provides great scenic views while getting you up to the Palace Gardens, church and (if you must) those somewhat cheesy basket rides back down. I would recommend getting to the embarkation point on the seafront early and avoid the days when there is a cruise ship in the port. Good day out.

A "must do" trip that is'nt expensive that gives you a 360 degree view of the Funchal Bay all the way up to the Mont Mountain. Fun to do with friends, family or even by yourself. A fabulous way to see Funchal and in a fun way! It's nice for 6 people but I wouldn't recommend more than that. Breathtaking... More

Went on the cable car with my wife. We also paid for the garden at the top, which was a waste of money. There is a buggy to take you round, I think it's about 4 euros each. However, on this occassion the batteries on the buggy were flat, so couldn't go round. You can go round on foot, I... More

We always enjoy getting the Cable car up to Monte, then walking around Monte, lovely Church. Then we visit the Monte Gardens, which are lovely.

We really enjoyed the views and our ride to the top and back. We also did some exploring, visited the church and watched the tobagon rides. The only thing I didn't like was the annoying photo they show you at the top for ten euros. The photographer took a awful photo at the last minute as she was talking to... More

It was a nice trip an the view was really good. The church is small, but it´s worth it to go up and visit it.
