Great way to see Funchal and the hills. All seated with 6 in each cable car so great for all. Was a sunny day and you could see for miles. Be prepared to have th photo they take of you at start, ready at top...More

We took the cable car up , on a sunny day the views are spectacular and plenty to do when you reach the top, decide how you want to come down, buy a return or a short walk and experience the tabbogan and either get...More

The cable car terminal was easy to find, down at the west end of the sea front. Ticket purchasing was smooth. The line up moved fast. Once aboard the views across the city, up to the mountains and out across the sea were magnificent. It...More

Efficient a nd well organized cable car with great views. Only complaint is getting hassled by taxi drivers looking for trade at entrance to cable car.

My wife and I are both wary of heights and we managed it ok. Facing down on the way back was better than facing up on the way up. As well as the amazing gardens at Monte, the church at the top is well worth...More

We went on the cable car right to the top, amazing views, we were lucky we went when there wasn’t a cruise ship in port and walked right on and had a car to ourselves, the following day a cruise ship was in port and...More

The cable car was a fun experience. The queue to buy tickets and board a cable car moved quickly. The tickets were quite expensive so we only used it once but I presume it costs a fair amount to maintain the system. An enjoyable trip....More

I'm not much of a religious admirer so there wasn't anything particularly special about this one. Some interesting history, nicely painted wooden ceiling but nothing that I will particularly remember

Amazing views from this efficiently run and modern cable car. We did a combi ticket with the botanical gardens access and a second, smaller cable car ride too, and it was a brilliant outing!

I’m scared of heights but still went with my husband as a must do activity! It takes about 15 minutes each way.

Hello, you should take number 20 or 21 I wouldn't recommend number 48. The main bus stop for both the 20 and 21 are in Funchal and they both stop Largo da Fonte (Monte bus stop).

Depends on what kind of walker you are! Woman tend to meander especially if the Sun is hot so I would allow 3 to 4 hours.
