Audio Equipment broken or missing, long wait for buses, narrative out of synchronization with actual location, insufficient number of Stop Buttons on the bus, one needed to stand and move about on the bus whilst bus was in motion to have the driver stop.

Funchal tour lasts about 90 minutes. It has headphones with commentary in various languages. A reall good introduction to the town. Includes a trip to a great vantage point and the west of the town with all the big hotels.

We purchased out tickets for our hop on and off trip around Funchal and weren't disappointed. As usual with red bus, they were on time every time and we had their clear map pointing us in the right direction. Drivers were a bit grumpy though but as long as they got us there in one piece who cares?

We got a 24hr ticket (E14) in the afternoon and took the whole central route for orientation and then used it again the next morning to visit the view point and get back into Centro. The information is a bit sparse but at least the music in-between stops is a mixture of traditional and modern Portuguese tunes. The driver drove... More

This is a very convenient way to see Funchal and, at 18 euros for three different tickets, it is good value. The bus was clean and comfortable but the service could be better. In a marked contrast to the helpful lady in the ticket kiosk, the driver was surly and unwelcoming. There was no indication about the commentary headphones and... More

Open top buses travel one way round Funchal. Great to get down into the marina, port area and town centre. Also to get round to the Forum shops, attractions and a lovely fishing village where you change buses to go up to the glass platform. We bought a 5 day ticket and got our money's worth on the two routes.

We bought a three in one 48 hour ticket and unfortunately lost the ticket half way through our second journey. Yellow Bus Tours got us back to Funchal without our ticket and also replaced the ticket free of charge with no questions asked so that we could continue our sightseeing journeys. Saved the day!

When we take hop on hop off buses, we like to stay on for the entire ride and then go back to places that we find most interesting. So, this is what we did. The city itself is nestled in a great natural amphitheater, facing the Atlantic Ocean with a backdrop of dramatic mountains. It is a lush green city,... More

We booked the Yellow bus tour at the Hotel. There are a few options of this and other buses too and different tours. As we were only there for a couple of days we did the Funchal Tour. We took the bus to the cable car stop. Got off and went up and down in the cable car and took... More

When visiting Funchal and you are thinking of taking a trip around the capital you have a few options available. You can hire one of the numerous taxis on offer take a local bus or if you are very brave you can hire a car. I found one of the best ways and a reasonably affordable option was the open... More
