Had a really enjoyable day here in Monte - having taken the cable car up from Funchal. Did not bother with the wicker basket down the hills.

Lovely visit to these unique gardens with such a wealth of beautiful plants and quirky additions. There is something for everyone here, sculpture, statuary, fountains, art, gemstones, a golden buddha, gorgeous views, fish, and flowers and plants from many, many places. Lots of lovely photo...More

We just wandered in here not knowing what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised. The gardens are really quite spectacular and decidedly quirky. We also went to the botanic garden which was looking a bit sparse at this time of year (March) but these...More

The garden is relatively small but considering the topography it is understandable. It was probably an impressive garden when it was establised but if you are not a plant enthusiast it is a bit boring.

A short, smooth cable car ride takes you up to Monte Palace and the beautiful gardens. They are truly stunning and well worth at least a couple of hours to wander and admire.

The garden was brilliant and more interesting than the more famous Botanical gardens. Yes it is hilly but everything in Funchal is. The variety of plants was spectacular as were the views over the town.It is easy to get a bus up from the town.

Not sure what you mean by a buggy cart. If it is for the Monte Palace you can get a Taxi up there but the garden itself didn’t have any options for disabled scooters that I could see . The terracing from top to bottom means... More
