These gardens are a bit difficult to get to so not as popular as some of the other gardens we visited and therefore lovely and quiet!. We hired a taxi who waited for us while we explored for a couple of hours and it cost...More

Got off the bus too soon - just stay on the but till the end. Followed the Lavada to the gardens. These were a delight so peaceful. The tea shop was most welcome too

Close to the golf course but if you are driving, it's not clearly marked. You can bus or taxi and there is parking in the gardens. There is a tearoom on site. The gardens a lovely at all times of the year.

Even if not in full bloom, amazing collection of plants and flowers from around the world and on top nice view on the city of Funchal.

We wondered about visiting the gardens in early March. Many of the plants were just beginning to bloom, but, the spring flowers were out in all their glory. A wonderful way to spend a peaceful afternoon surrounded by beauty.

Not easy to reach, but this garden was absolutely beautiful, even in February. The cafe on the premises is also very nice. Well worth the trouble to get there.

Wonderful gardens with more breathtaking views. Also included was good wildlife. Saw our first ever firecrests, then saw Atlantic canaries. We used the local bus but be careful of return times if you travel at the weekend. 1.95 each, each way.

We decided to visit the gardens as we had a hire car and thought it would be a good place to start a day out. However our Sat nav did not seem to recognise the address and so our initial guess seemed to take us...More
