Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I think that this is a less traveled miradour as the whole time we were there we hardly saw other travelers, and maybe this is one of the great advantages of this marvelous view points. The walk from the road is short, on a paved path, the view deck looks over to the valley of the nuns valley and the mountains around. The views are really breathtaking

This is a miradouro that is higher up the mountains overlooking the valley of the Nuns. The drive up is definitely not for the faint of heart, but worth the effort. You are above the clouds here, and in any direction the views are dramatic to a fault.

The view is unquestionably amazing, but it pales in comparison to Miradouro Eira do Serrado. The two are less than ten minutes apart, with this viewpoint up an extraordinarily steep road that closes overnight. The view from Eira do Serrado sees much more of the valley depsite being a little bit lower down (albeit not much in the scheme of things)

We drove to Curral das Freiras today and love the road and scenery. After a coffee in town, a local advised us to drive up to Poiso via Miradouros do Paredao and Pico do Arieiro. Stunning and very little traffic! Coming from South Africa, we felt right at home in the open spaces! We stopped at Miradouros do Paredao and only about 5 other cars there. There is a viewpoint about 2minutes walk from there. What happenend next, we only realised a bit later...our car's signal was jammed when we locked it with the remote and all our cash was stolen out of our wallets...clever, because no one would think of carrying all your belongings with you on such a short route and you think its very safe because there is practically no one. We are very used to crime...but this was clever! I hope they enjoy a good bottle of Madeira with out 200 euro!

This spot takes a bit of work to find, and the road is closed at night. The view is worth it; we visited on a mildly cloudy day with wisps of fog rolling down the mountains. Good parking space and easy walk path up to the view, and the wholeroad haslots of parking places for short stops, so you can get out and stare at the views without leaving your car on the road.

This is an excellent stretch of road linking from just before Pico Arieiro to near Eira do Serrado above Curral das Freiras. The road is an adventure in itself - heading up from the Eira side, it was so steep that I had to keep putting the car into 1st gear!
Due to cloud we couldn't see down towards Funchal but there is a fabulous miradouro (viewpoint) a short stroll from the road looking down upon Curral das Freiras (Nuns Valley).
It was pleasantly quiet - presumably as it is not yet shown on most maps.

I am not sure why this object has so few reviews; and why is it supposedly unpopular? It offers stunning views both on sunny and cloudy days alike! We spent there good 30 minutes and could not help stopping to take pictures. Definitely worth the visit. The road up itself is an adventure! Be aware that the object is closed during the night.
