You can easily walk from the train station to/from city center, and we enjoyed grabbing a quick bite and shopping in this area. Would recommend eating here in city center before heading to palaces, as you have way more options and better prices.

Sinatra is a lovely town with plenty of history and enchanted gardens and palaces. The main area of town is pleasant to walk and have a meal.

The Old Town area of Sintra is cute and charming and consists of a maze of narrow pedestrian alleys lined with shops. It’s fun to visit, but like most Old Town areas, it consists mostly of tourist restaurants and tourist shops and there isn’t much...More

I loved Sintra so much that I went with our tour group and then went back again for solo time. It's adorable with shops, restaurants and cafes. Plus, the history is amazing - and lovely!

So gorgeous! What a beautiful place. There are quite a lot of steep hills covered in cobblestones, so be prepared to go "up and down", wear comfy shoes. The homes in the area have a lot of character and the centro is filled with coffee...More

As anywhere I’ve been in Portugal, the people are polite and helpful and even the “tourist traps” are decent quality and reasonably priced, but unfortunately Sintra is one of those beautiful European villages that has become a soulless theme park, crowded with tourists and souvenir...More

Fairly typical tourist town, but friendly people. Very crowded even on the off-season. Lots of places to shop and eat
