Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I know the place all my life of 57 years . It was always a quiet place to be with my family just enjoying the pleasures of the sea and sand in the sunny days and even all the year . Recently I believe there's a strong need for police presence because I experience - and saw the same bad events with other people - the presence of some delinquency near ordinary people and there families. They where just a few couples but their behavior was a strong motive to alert old people and families.

In the morning it was overcast. This is quite normal for this part of Portugal. It is basically a surfers beach. The waves are powerful and the ocean water is cold. It is a great place to learn to surf or boogie board. There are a few cafes and restaurants close. You are better off going to the Praia de Macas.

We stopped briefly at the beach which on a sightseeing trip and were impressed by the wide expanse of clean sandy beach. Not overly busy on a warm but blustery Monday.

A beach for everybody. Lots of hard sand for beach games. Big waves for surfing. A very sandy beach. Lots of restaurants along the road which runs parallel to the beach. Several coffee spots along the promenade. At one end of the beach there is a huge sea water swimming pool which belongs to a hotel but it is open, for a fee, for others to use. There are indeed steps up to the cliff top at the opposite end of the beach to the swimming pool. However, these are closed due to a construction problem with the steps. There is another way up to the main road and thus onwards to the coastal path which is by the small roundabout just by the end of the road along the beach. At the opposite end of the beach above the swimming pool there is an easy path to the next beach.

Did a lovely walk from Praia Agraga to Praia Grande. Beautiful vistas along the way. Be sure to go to the stairs and see the dinosaur footprints along the cliff!
Did not spend any time on praia grande beach as it has a big hotel and pool on it. Instead enjoyed the nature to the south.

Praia grande is a big beach after its name. It's a sufing beach as well. Every year, on summer time we have a surf championship. It's a beach where the locals go. It's a family friendly beach.

Praia Grande is a nice sandy beach with beautiful cliffs on the south side and plenty of restaurants. It has public transportation from Sintra. To get to the beach by public transportation you can take the Sintra Tram (also known as the Elétrico) or the bus from the Portela Sintra train station (the bus company in Sintra is SCOTTURB I believe bus 441 or 439 goes to this beach.

Im not a big fan of the beaches on the Sintra coast, but if you are on the Lisbon side and having in mind the nightmare that is to cross the 25 de Abril Bridge in Summer, you are left with not many options. Praia Grande is a big beach with usually strong ondulation, wind is also a normal companion. The beaches from Costa da Caparica are much more pleasant if you can get there. Praia Grande is not particularly beautiful or worth the visit but if you are in the region go for a visit.

Been here fo surfing and waves were powerful. They break quickly so the ride is not too long. Pretty rough for beginners, but can always try the bodyboard!!

A very large beach with great surf, a saltwater sea pool at one end and a fantastic sea food restaurant we dined at which overlooks it all.
