More
The Moorish Castle is a military fortification that bears witness to the Islamic presence in the region, and was probably constructed between the eighth and ninth centuries and later expanded after the Reconquista. Overlooking the town of Sintra, it served as a watchtower, guaranteeing the protection of Lisbon and its surroundings.

We took the bus from town to up near the top of the hill. We bought a combo ticket. We walked some to get to the entrance. Once inside, one can walk up either hill to get to the best view points on the walls...More

Easy to find from below, but a winding road up. We found it best to take the 434 regional bus from the main circle in Sintra. Bundling this site's ticket with the Pena Palace will also save on admission fees and avoids the lineups. Best...More

Expensive at €8.50. To me they should only charge no more than €3.50. It's a castle with spectacular panoramic views but that's it. I would recommend save your money for Palace of Pena at €14. But buy your ticket for Palace of Pena here, you...More

Beautiful castle. Loved wandering around and exploring the castle. Lots of steps so wear decent footwear. The views are breathtaking well worth the climb to the top. X

Decided to hike up the mountain to the top, which I had bused it, not an easy climb. Really loved the views and castle though--made the hike worth the while. Took a Tuk Tuk down though :) The ramparts are nicely preserved, a little scary...More

Magnificent view among the trees. It might be windy and have different weather conditions than in Lisbon. It is a must visit. If you have time, I was told that you should also visit the museum - I did not.

We saw this place from a distance and looked beautiful. Could not actually venture inside due to lack of time.
