Overview
More
The Moorish Castle is a military fortification that bears witness to the Islamic presence in the region, and was probably constructed between the eighth and ninth centuries and later expanded after the Reconquista. Overlooking the town of Sintra, it served as a watchtower, guaranteeing the protection of Lisbon and its surroundings.

We went to the castle after a visit to the Pena Palace and we were quite tired already. But we could not stop strolling the steep stairs and the narrow walkways on top of the castle walls (some parts of them do not have handrails,...More

If you like hiking, you could walk from the train (bus) station, it would take about an hours. To me, I enjoy here more than the Palace of Pena, it may because it is very crowded in Palace of Pena.

Lovely walk to get to the castle. Many stairs but lovely views. Went first thing in the morning so got to really appreciate it without crowds of people.

It is a nice uphill walk from the bus drop off point, but a pleasant walk especially if you wear great walking shoes. The castle truly sends you back in time, and you cannot help but marvel at what they were able to construct at...More

Sorry for the delay! Yes you can see the Moorish castle from the Pena Palace. I agree that if you have to choose between the two, definitely go to the Pena Palace.
