The Summer Palace of Portuguese Monarchy
Nov. 2021
The multicolored Palace of Pena, located on the hills of Sintra (one of the most beautifuls cities in Portugal) worth the visit. Outside you will see many towers, buildings and gates (in red, yellow and blue) with a beautiful garden around. Watch the little details like the tiles in high relief. Inside, you will find portraits, furniture and personal objects of the royals of Portugal (Nowadays, Portugal is a republic). Furthermore you can take many photos of the city of Sintra, the hills of this region and the best view of Morish Castle.

The Summer Palace of Portuguese Monarchy
Nov. 2021
It's our second time visiting Sintra, but I didn't have the opportunity to visit the Palace before. Maybe, the multicolored Palace be the main postcard of the beautiful city of Sintra, with many towers, buildings and gates, in red, yellow and blue. Outside, there are a lot of little details to take photos like the tiles in high relief. Beyond this, there are beautiful landscapes to admire: the beautiful hills of Sintra, the garden of the Palace or the best view of Morish Castle. Inside, it's a well maintained space with objects and the furniture of the royals of Portugal.

Lovely palace

comprehensive audioguide is worth downloading. Don't bother with the little shuttlebus they try and sell you as an add on. It is only a 5 min walk from the main bus stop to the palace.

Beautiful!
Oct. 2021
This is a beautiful palace, with breathtaking views. I recommend taking a taxi from the train station, as the walk is long and very steep! We did not explore the interior of the palace, as it did not interest us. However, we truly enjoyed walking the grounds. A wonderful day trip from Lisbon.

It is nice, but not up to par with other European Palaces. Also you cannot go by car, no obvious signs posted. It was very upsetting when I was told by the security when I was close to the palace, worse was that I could not go back but had to take a road that took an additional 40 minutes to come back to Sintra.

Must go ONLY if a sunny day
Nov. 2021 • Solo
Totally fabulous (the Mickey Mouse way) on a sunny day. If you go expecting perfection and history you will be disappointed. If you go to enjoy it’s uniqueness and forget its faults then you’ll leave happy. The contrast of colors and forms makes it unique and playful. I would never go on a cloudy day: the pollution stains would show even more, the vibrant colors would look pale and the chilly wind would not help either. That said it’s totally worth the visit (garden/terrace only) on a ☀️ day.

Amazing Palace
This was a highlight of our 7 day trip in Portugal. The palace is nicely maintained and facilities supporting this historical site is well organized. The views are amazing.

We spent a couple hours focused just on the palace. You could easily spend a full day here if you explored the grounds.

Do not drive here by private car
Nov. 2021 • Couples
WARNING- you can no longer drive to this palace by private car. You must walk or take a bus from Sintra train station. (Not sure if Uber is allowed). This wasn’t properly advertised. The police are redirecting people just outside the entrance with no explanation. When we were there, lost cars were randomly driving around the mountain looking for the park. In the end we gave up and went home.

Must see in Sintra
Nov. 2021 • Couples
This was the only castle/palace we got to tour in Sintra and there are a few to visit.

Buy tickets online. It will save time. Skip the 14 euro ticket that gets you access to the inside of the palace. Instead, buy the 7 euro tix that gets you inside the gate and onto the outside parts of the palace, including walking the outdoor parts of the palace.

I say take an Uber up (less than 10 euros) vs the Tuktuks which could be 10 euros per person.

Colorful off the chart palace.
Nov. 2021
A must see. Their us not a comparable palace like this anywhere else. We only toured the outside which gives one quite a picture. Different archetecture and a mix of bright colours make this quite memorable. One needs to see to appreciate
