Beautiful piece of nature, but expensive
Jul. 2019 • Family
Entrance fee to th epark is the price of a specific walking trail. The shortest (and cheapest) is 5 km, which was actully too much for our 5-year old granddaughter. We only saw a couple of tame deer, but she thought it ws wonderful. For the adults it was abeautiful walking trail. Though we got a specific map for our trail, we did get lost a bit. As the signs along the way are not that good alas.

We seen some wildlife today. Deer, boar and their babies eating in the wild. It is a nice outing for families that would take half a day.

Beautiful Park full of Animals
Jul. 2018 • Friends
We went for a group hike through the Tepada. We did a combo of trails that was about 10. We saw lots of deer and Javali. We went in July and saw lots of baby animals running around. The park itself is well organized and very pretty. The hiking is not too strenuous, so its is good for kids. If you are lucky, you go during the festa do Pão and you can get some freshly baked bread after your hike!

Expensive for just a walk in the park.
Apr. 2019 • Family
We were at the Park for a walk and they wanted to charge us 6,5€ per person.
We arrived at 16pm and the park closes at .
We were 8 people with 4 adults and 4 with plus then 14yo/18yo. So for the 52€ that we had to pay, for a 2hours visit, we give up.

Beautiful Countryside Hiking
Sep. 2017 • Couples
I ran a segment of a trail run through the Tapada Nacional de Mafra, 9K of beautiful hills and vistas starting just behind the palace/convent in the center of town. The trails weave through the preserve, and my companions even saw a herd of deer, which you don't often see in Portugal outside of nature preserves such as this one. A lovely place to spend an afternoon. Bring water, and a picnic, and plan for a long visit to take advantage since the normal entry fee is about €6,50 each. Ours was waived for the run; this is a normal fee we're used to paying in the US for entry into national parks and hopefully it is well used to preserve the park and manage the broad swath of land.

An expensive walk
Aug. 2017 • Family
We turned up planning a nice walk in the forest. On arrival the man at the desk said it would be €6.50 per person to walk one of the trails. This would add up to €32.50 for our family (2 adults and 3 children under 12) for a one hour walk. We left. If we had planned a few hours here I could justify spending that amount but for a brief visit this was a ridiculous amount to charge. FYI-they only accept cash.

Heart taking National Preserve
Sep. 2016 • Family
In the heart of the Mafra Forest this Preserve is a little peace of wild life that allows us visitors to see a very interesting group of animals in the nature, this place is very big and makes available to the animals a very large and open area, for us it allows us to see up close this beautiful species that we may not be able to see in our daily life.

Awfully shamefully disorganised !!!
Apr. 2017 • Family
They're good at charging you 6€ for 20 minutes of archery practice but when you get on site, the "instructor" tells you you have to wait but doesn't say for how long.
Probably more than 45 minutes.
Our advice : avoid the place, it's wasted time and money !
Fortunately, they agreed for our money back... They get a "1" for that...

Escolhemos fazer apenas passeio pedestre. Os 8 km do troço fizeram-se sem qualquer dificuldade. Vimos veados e gamos e algumas aves de rapina selvagens. Passámos um dia bastante agradável que recomendamos.

We choose to do the pedestrian walk. We made the 8 km without any difficulty. We saw deers and some wild birds of prey. We had a very nice day and we recommend this park.
