Speciality & Gift Shops
About
The iconic XIX new-Arabian Palace, located in the groovy neighborhood of Principe Real, was turned in Sept. 2013 Into an innovative retail concept (TimeOut Idea of the Year Award), hosting a range of shops focused on Portuguese design, fashion, gastronomy and culture. The result is a meeting point of people and experiences, tradition and contemporaneity, blending heritage with the newest that Portugal has to offer. The restaurant located in the inner courtyard offers live Fado concerts on Tuesdays and sundays. Complimentary parking in the garden (Calcada da Patriarcal, 40) for clients.

Unique shopping

Great boutique shopping in a charming old mansion. The park across the street has a small street market. Trendy area.

One of the best shopping spots in Lisbon
Oct. 2019
Not only is the building gorgeous but the stores are not crowded and offer the very best of Portugal. Walked out with lots of gifts to bring home after spending a lovely few hours there. Park across the street is nice too. Next door to Jamie Oliver's restaurant too.

Interesting Building and Shops
Dec. 2019
This is a converted mansion with some very hip and cool shops. We found a wonderful shop from a family owned sheep and wool company that had beautiful items. If you are in the very scenic and walkable neighborhood it's definitely worth a stop.

Outstanding Architecture and great photo ops.
Apr. 2019 • Solo
This building is worth visiting for it's architecture and is a great photographic location. The items for sale were a bit craft-y and over-priced for my taste. There was a photographic exhibition on the first floor and young designers on the upper floor. There is a cafe/gin bar in the central area downstairs but I didn't partake.
I only came in to use the toilets and got drawn in. Beautiful building.

Cool shopping in gorgeous location
Mar. 2019 • Friends
I had high hopes for the shopping experience at Embaixada, but I was slightly disappointed. Although the building itself was stunning, and the cafe/bar inside was cool, the shops themselves left a lot to be desired. They were all very modern and trendy, but each one had about 5 pieces of merchandise. There was no volume of things to look at. One could walk through all of the stores in short order, because there just isn't much to see.

While I do suggest going, the shopping on the street around Embaixada is much better. Leading up to the entrance to Embaixada, I went in about 5 stores that were super cool, had tons of unique items, and really highlighted how little was actually in Embaixada.

This is not what I call shopping
Feb. 2019 • Solo
If you want to see a beautifully renovated palace/building put to good use this is it. If you are a serious shopper - skip this venue. Each room in the building is a shop with exclusive and pricey items. The restaurant is smack in the middle of the shops - pretty strange to have a small food court in this area. The steps to the upper floors are steep. I couldn’t be bothered looking for an elevator. Reaching the Embaixada by car is disastrous. We missed the free parking entrance behind the building and could not manage to get back to it cause the streets were one way and confusing.

Nice Moorish building
Apr. 2018
Beautiful Moorish style building transformed shopping mall from alternative stores. Has restaurant (better make reservation) and bar. It is close to Chiado , botanical garden .... Shops are not so interesting but building both outside and inside are very nice.

What an astonishing visual delight, well worth dropping by to check it out. As a bonus I loved the exhibition in the upper gallery by Helena de Medeiros.

Great building full of independents.
May 2018 • Couples
A great old building being put to better uses. The centre has a cafe area and each room has an independent retailer. If you can’t find anything of interest you can admire the building or have a drink at Gin Lovers.
