The gallery itself is really beautiful but the art exhibits aren't the most exciting you'll ever see but nevertheless are well worth a visit if you're in the Belem area anyway. Loved the surrealist section.

One of the world's best modern art museum. 250 works of art from Picasso and Dali to Andy Warhol. If you like modern art, well worth a few hours. Hardly ever crowded especially not by tourists

For a new museum, it was great and well appointed. Great exhibits, and the performing arts centre attached to the museum is lovely.

Good collection of modern art. The American pop art section is especially good. At the moment there is an exhibition by a South African photographer which is thought-provoking. Entrance is free on Saturdays.

There´s no metro link to get there. But there are other options: there is a suburban train (Lisbon/Cascais) which stops just by the Museum. You can get that train at Cais do Sodre which is a big intermodal station near Plaça... More

Just take the streetcar to the very end (Jeronimos Monastery) then walk 200m farther west. It's an imposing modern building.
